You people's egos are out of control and evidently extremely fragile ha ha!
I stand by what I said. The dog or handler was never touched or assuated then there should be no bite.

same goes for a women thats about to be molested shes not gonna wait till shes being raped to defend herself soon as a guy makes a threatening move towards her she or her dog should have the right to dispatch that man any way possible but again i dont know what the law says on that depends on the area
For the OP he says it was his friends dog and i guess they knew he was doing it, or maybe they were training who knows he doesnt seem like he falls into this catagory
now if someone by mistake jmps at your dog or you in excitment because they wanna pet or kiss it or something yeah they are stupid but no they dont deserve to be hit
a lot of confusion going on around here
JUMPINg at a dog can mean many things a person can do it cause they are excited and happy to see a cute dog or someone can do it in a threatening manner you can easily tell the diff
at the start people had the impression the OP was going around a club and sneaking up on people and their dogs and jumping at them which we now know is not the case lol
SMITH I sent you a text btw :P

So, let me get this straight...a couple of years ago, you show up here asking whether your dog's pedigree is any good and now you're suddenly an expert qualified to critique other people's dogs?

I was refering to anyone who jumped on me and my Dog not you in particular, However If the cap fits then where it.
The way i took the OP was jumping on the Dog and Handler and being a complete stranger to them , Who else on here would not react the way i would certainly if you were watching other handlers and there dogs working and probably with your back to the one jumping on you
I had that in a main street once when i was younger, a work mate came through the crowd bobbing and weaving towards me coming the opposite way, i did not recognize him at that moment in among the people thinking it was a nutter,
Well he was flattened out on the pavement very quickly. then i saw who it was, A stupid thing for him to do but i react purely on reflexes and instinct that is built into me nothing can change that nor do i want to, i will of course talk afterwards if needs be
Sportyguy
If someone jumps you what do you say to them do not do that i do not like it and try and reason with them,
Like Hell how do you know what there intent is, you deal with it first then look to see who it is
Those two Thugs in the UK what would you have done let them knock you about and rob you or Fight, No chance i will give way to anyone in that situation if i am going to be put out i will not give up that easy, nothing big about it just survival.
Too many give way to thugs and still end up in hospital or dead, Better fight and go out in the right way if that is to happen not give way like a frightened cowering person, That just cannot happen
Oh' and i am just an ordinary person who gets on well with people in real life and would not normally say BOO to a Goose so to speak, but threatened in anyway i change completely as do most people

IF you were at any club that I have ever trained at and you did make a jump at a dog you might get bit but you would defiantly get your ass handed to you by the handler and told to leave the club and not welcomed back.
It,s this mentality that makes it hard for all the people who work and train there dog,s to be taken seriously when you have people who think "Hey watch this" mentality.
Jumping at a dog in most cases is a threat or at least a challenge to them so a reaction will occur depending on the training or experience of the dog will be the qualifing issue. I,m intrested to know what the OP feels would of been the proper response for a REAL (theres that word again)dog to have done? Should it of ripped you to the bone? bark agressivley? stand it,s ground quietly and wait for a scarrier jump?.
smith or sporty I sure would like to see some of your dogs worked and see your idea of a real dog training. Do you have any video of said dogs and the work they do? would you be available to give a example with your dogs on the proper response that should be expected?.
I don,t expect my dogs to protect me I do that for my self but I do expect them to react as a dog does and with the training accordingly they have experienced.

Not any dog in particular, Smith, but you sure are talking a lot of smack for someone with an untitled dog out of a mixture of untitled show and working lines who you've taken it upon yourself to breed, twice, apparently before she was even two years old. I find the OFA good rating you've entered for her suspect as well since I can't find any mention of her in the OFA database.
And yes, I like to know to whom I'm talking before I give any consideration to his/her opinions.
