Steve, I was speaking generally; most of the similarly-bred dogs I have seen are rather light. That's encouraging that Hektor's littermates are darker. His pic is taken at a notoriously light stage of sable coloring, so I really wasn't basing my comment on hiim.

The remark was "similarly bred dogs," loosely meaning other 2-3 and 3-2 Tom dogs, similar lines to the examples of Hektor and the bitch Hunger4justice commented on that OGBS posted. Not sure what sons and grandsons have to do with my comment at all.  I've noticed that many Mohnwiese dogs are rather washed out and in the examples that made me state this observation, the dogs were a heavy cross of Mohnwiese (several dogs, not just one or two) on Tom. I didn't look closely to see exactly; I've just often clicked on a ped. like that which caught my eye to have it be a very light colored dog, nearly no mask, lighter eyes...just not my cup of tea from an aesthetic standpoint. It was just a petty, simple observation, certainly not meant to spur a discussion.

When linebreeding, you have to pay special attention to things that may not be as much of an issue in an outcross, thus my superficial and trivial comment regarding my wish to see a dog bred like that w/the total package. The end.

Steve, I am curious to see Hektor's new pics.

I don't know where the rest of my above post went, but has anyone seen, other than videos, Zar, Dax or Olek work.  I've only heard good things about them.  I know Dax is in Florida.

In a thread about Tom, my above post was not refering to any other poster's posts.
