Why would one need a job outside of 100 puppies? I'm being conservative, but even if she only pocketed $1000 per pup after taxes, that's $100,000.

Meant expenses, not just taxes.

I get that Chaz.  At the end of the year her net is probably quite a bit less, we are taxed pretty high here in british columbia, and the expenses that come with that many dogs is quite high.  I believe her husband works an outside job, but that is another story.  It has been a couple of years since I talked to her.

My point was that her dogs get 100% of her.  She puts everything she has in to them, I would be more comfortable buying from her than many smaller breeders BECAUSE they are her everything.  Even with the number of dogs she has she is remarkably hands on with them all and I would expect nothing but top notch in every regard as far as Tracy and her dogs are concerned.

Granted I have only spoken to her on the phone a few times, and not met her in person.  I HAVE driven by her property and her dogs are NOT living the hard life that is for sure.  She has a beautiful property that is impecably kept.  She is top notch for sure.

Doubt it. I was being conservative. Not saying anything about her dogs, just the statement of her working outside the dogs. I personally would never buy from her, but that is me. Not my type of dog, but that is life. We all like different things. I know her dogs do well in shows and show people like them. If that's your bag, that's your bag.

Fair enough.

I actually recently read some data somewhere.....a recent year.....not sure how recent it was, she had 122 puppies that were registered wtih the AKC s of late december that year.  So you were in the right ballpark.  Her puppy prices were not outrageous either.....I think $1400-$1600.  When it comes to the sale of trained adults though, of course that is another story and I am sure she sells a good number of SchH titled dogs each year as well, so in theory it could be substantially more.  But the bottom line is that she is fully involved with her dogs.  this is not just a hobby for her.  She has made herself into a brand in essence.  None of that really had anything to do with what you were sayinng.  It is just generic info for anyone who may be interested.

I'm going to be in her neighbourhood this weekend.  Maybe it is time for that visit.  I've always wanted to have a look at the grounds, I've only seen them from the gates.  Very good friends of ours live in the neighbourhood.....if you could call it that.

There is not a harder working person than Tracey.  Her goals are top knotch and so are her dogs.  Bitches are out on co-ownerships so that they live the good life and are returned to her for whelping.  She whelps in the house and her dogs are rotated through the house for house time.  Tracey is very well known for doing the right thing with the dogs.  I never hesitate sending people her way when they are looking for a showline GSD. Yes she does breed alot of dogs, you have to if you want to compete.  Alot of pups being produced does not make a puppy mill......Oh by the way I am someone who actually knows her, has been to here house etc.  So it's not I heard from a friend who heard....... If you are looking for showline it is the kennel to look at.  PS there are a bunch of females being sent back in whelp from Germany pretty quick here so if you want German Import without paying whacko prices.....   Tracey is one of the few who has not comprimised her goals, I've known her since 1986.  She stands behind what she produces.

aceofspades, how often do you hear of a breeder who stands behind every dog they produce?  Not very often. She does. We see how people get taken for a ride daily on this board.  Typically if you hear anything bad about her breeding program you simply have to consider the source.

This is a reply to aceofspades, no her puppies are not raised inside the house, and no she does not title all her dogs herself, and has not for many years. No, not all of her females are out on co-ownerships. I am not saying not to buy from her, or that her dogs are not be nice, I am just saying please do your research -as you would with any kennel- and ask to see where the puppies are raised, where adults are kept and ask how many people are around to socialize and care for the puppies and dogs that are produced. These are important questions to ask, especially if one plans to buy an older puppy and I am sure these would be questions anyone would ask of any breeder they were going to anyway. Anyone can win ribbons and trophies, but I would rather stick with a smaller breeder who raises one litter at a time, hands on. They will really know there puppies, the strengths and weaknesses that are apparent at that age and will really be able to match a puppy to what you want (hopefully anyways). That's just me and what I would want though.
