I could never own a GSD, ever again, after all the heartache I have been through with the health problems in the breed, but if I could, OMG... I am so in love with this face... This would be the one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE her eyes...

I can understand why she is pulling at your heartstrings, Marjorie! She is so adorable.

Try a German dog this time, Marj. I know the seller, she is a wonderful person and one of the few I would buy a dog from. You know you want that puppy....go for it.

Pick up the phone and make that call NOW!!! She's not going to be available for very long.

Marjorie, there is no greater tribute to Jack Flash and Missie T than to continue to let a GSD move into your heart.  I agree with Blitzen--consider changing bloodlines--perhaps you subconciously have a 'type' in the American lines that happens to coincide with also being a riskier prospect for the development of DM, and by selecting a pup from completely different lineage maybe your 'type' preference won't go hand in hand with the damned disease that is like a tattoo on your soul.  And the seller of this puppy has an *outstanding* reputation as well, so that's a plus in this little girl's favor, too.

She IS too cute and then some.  Even without a GSD, you know you'll go through heartbreaks with other dogs...they all have their issues, but the love they give us trumps the pain losing them causes.  The day I awaken to a permanent lack of a GSD in my life is the day my next of kin should be phoning the university that will be getting my cadaver.

Here's a suggestion.  Before you leap again.....

Buy a dog from a breeder who tests for DM, CERF, Cardiac as well as certified hips and elbows.

Life is a game of chance but you can stack the deck in your favor.

Had ww3 in my house tonight, with my DH reminding me of the $100,000 we have put into our last 3, due to health problems. I have had German line dogs before, and I love both Am breds and German lines. I did sneak a look- couldnt help it, at her sire and dam and like what I saw..... I am so in love with her- she has Missie T eyes... I dont care if she is show or not...She captured my heart the second I saw the advertisement, which honestly, I NEVER notice. DH will not budge.... :(

Hi to all:  Marjorie:  I have seen some of her dogs (Westcoast GSD's,)  lives not too far from me, went to see her Zamp Von Der Urebeke, (SP) and he's a nice boy;  have not seen this sire in the flesh think I saw her mom though.  Barb DiBernardo does all the health checks possible out there plus works and shows her dogs.  She really is a cutie;  calling your name also.  I will check with Barb when I can get my next GSD as I would love to be able to pick him out myself, but if I go back east, would not be able to do that.

I cannot believe you are going to deny yourself a GSD, knowing what you know and Westcoast also has a 5 year health guarantee.  Think that is pretty damn good.  Nan

I know how you and your husband feel. Every time I lose a dog I give away all my dog stuff, say that's it - I cannot bury any more dogs, it just hurts too much. Next thing you know I'm on line buying a new crate, etc and planning what I'm going to do with the next dog.

It may not be exactly the right time, but I suspect one day you will be back here bragging about your new GSD. And since when did you ever let a man tell you what to do anyway? Just  hold your breath til you pass out, he'll let you get the dog then. It works for me every time.
