Blitzen, ya think?

by Blitzen on 08 March 2013 - 11:03

MY point was this - since so many feel as if the WL's and SL's are different breeds and that their gene pools are no longer identical why not generate a registry for dogs deemed to be WL's only?

by joanro on 08 March 2013 - 11:03

That's what splitting a breed is. But you don't "create a NEW registry". You do the same thing every other breed has done which split, you just register them as a different breed in the SAMe registry. It's not like the WL is a rare breed and must have it's own registry, they are already in the existing registries.

by Blitzen on 08 March 2013 - 11:03

That's one way, the other would be to create a registry specifically for WL's. It couldn't receive AKC or SV sanction not that that would really matter, would it? Ergo, no need to generate a "new breed" or even a new breed  name. It could simply be called Registry and Club for  Real Workingline German Shepherds ONLY.. This is all assuming that there are enough WL owners interested  in splitting since it would take a lot of work and planning not the least of which would be how to determine if the dog is truly a real WL or a  hybrid mix that included SL's. According to what I read here there should be a lot who would love do that in order to keep their dogs "pure" and separate from the SL's.

Blitzen, you sound like you're more interested in making snarky remarks towards the WL ..... Such as: " it couldn't receive AKC or SV sanction, but that that [sic] wouldn't really matter...."
That's absurd, but that's why you said it. I quit.

by Blitzen on 08 March 2013 - 13:03

Well, Joanro, maybe you et al  should think about what is said here about SL's too. Snarky and absurd remarks cut both ways and only serve to put others on the defensive as you have just found out.

by joanro on 08 March 2013 - 13:03

So, that's your problem. But I'm not et all, and am not responsible for what other's say. Good thing you live in Fl where the sand is deep and loose. LOL.

I do have a problem with line bashing, don't like it at all. It seems that some just don't care how hurtful they are and what an effect that behavior has on the way others react.

by joanro on 08 March 2013 - 13:03

True, that's why I refrained from any line bashing here. Sorry you got hurt.

darylehret, made some excellent points about how to possibily proceed

Blitzen, the information I provided about the belgian shepherds is a perfectly acceptable example.  People don't want to admit it due to politics, but the German Shepherd breed today is in the exact same boat as the Belgians were in 1959.  Sure in FCI countries they are one breed, but they are not in North America and DNA research can settle it, though for German Shepherd specifically it is in a very preliminary stage of funding, testing etc.
