You mean if you are not interested in a professional quality recording, you will be fine.

It's not the *stadium's* fault no one was hired to record.  They don't ban that.  There are always media at various events.  Did the WUSV or whatever committee puts on this event try to hire someone to record the event?

Mr Smith
It is you who need to get off your high horse and read the original post correctly. So if i take my Nikon Camera with two lenses does not make me a professional at taking photos. The thing that bothers me is that there is no mention of Live Stream where we can see the event as it goes on. and remember we have to pay for this privalage, Other than Denwolf saying she would cover it and this Lady has not had much help with the people running this event to date. They took over a month to get the Handlers and Dogs names on the site. The Crate was more important. it seems that us people not going to the event are un important in fact the way it has been run to date tells us that fact IF there is no coverage of this event for the ordinary people to view at least afterwards then i for one will be writing to the Powers to be in a strong letter and i hope others will to.I will finish with this
Any Country not willing to allow Live Stream or what have you into the event so the IPO sports people of the world cannot see the event at the time or even after the event should not be considered for any future part in holding such an event in there country. No avid Sports person expects something for nothing and expect to pay, but we have the right to expect and see photos and videos of at least part of what takes place at such an event. after all it is the highlight of the IPO Year.

Steve, it's not the "country" banning live streams.  I don't think anyone has banned anything...whoever organized this event didn't set that up.

Most stadiums in the US have this blanket rule...no video or audio recording, no detachable lenses.  Some do allow DSLR type cameras but specify how long or large a lens can be.  This is nothing new. I am photographer myself and have been attending concerts at large venues for years and these requirements are always there.  Some bands have their own rules which then trump the stadium's rule but if the band or whoever is hosting the event doesn't have their own rule, then usually what is printed on the tickets is what applies (though very, very minimally enforced).

It's a shame there is no video recording or live stream for the WUSV, major bummer (understatement) for those of us who cannot attend.  Maybe someone can volunteer and get the proper pass?  If so I would contact the event organizers, not complain that the country is banning video streaming.  Susie is spot on, this is completely normal and it was the organizers of the event that dropped the ball here.

Obviously, they have not tried to hire any one, because no one has been hired. Not for lack of the professionals who do this service efforts in trying to get answers from the powers that be.

Funny here is the ol' soft shoe come pattering down the path. There is a certain ridiculousness to it all. So, just so everyone knows, when nothing is captured on a professional level, it wasn't because the professionals didn't want to be there.

Sadly, it does seem that there will NOT be any complete and watchable video of this event.

I have tried for WEEKS to arrange this..  NOT to "profit big" from the coverage, but because I am PASSIONATE about our breed, and want to pass on to the next generation SOMETHING to have/see/watch for posterity that they can compare these top animals and their handlers/trainers and breeders in the future.

It is MONDAY, and nearly zero hour for this event..

MANY MANY different people DID want this covered AND livestreamed, but the go ahead to DO so was never given..

The stadium is a business..  it is rented by a customer..  the ticket that is purchased is basically a contract, and when you BUY a ticket, and trade it for access to the venue, you have to abide by the contract on the back of that ticket.

What that means is, YES, that venue CAN enforce (if it WANTS to) the clause about the video/audio recording.. and YES, they CAN ask you to leave if you do it. That goes for cell phones and palm cameras.

Will they do that??  I sincerely hope not..  probably not...  BUT... it means they CAN do it... IF they want to.. or are ASKED/TOLD to do so by the group renting the stadium.

If I show up with my 10K worth of gear, buy a ticket, and set up in the stands next to Joe Public will I get asked to leave??  PROBABLY. HIGHLY LIKELY. I am unwilling to chance it..

Hopefully, there will be some last minute attempt by the "organizer" and main indian chief to get SOMEBODY to do something other than shaky, hand held, blurry video.. with some editing that isn't full of jump cuts, bad framing, awful audio, and "i-dream-of-jeannie" edits...

I will be flying in to New England early Wednesday.. and hope to meet many of you while visiting..  If the opportunity presents itself, I promise to throw up a FREE livestream off of my crapola web cam...  assuming I find some high speed.
Otherwise, we'll stop off in the Bronx and pick up WHITE CASTLES fresh off the greasy grill..  and join us for a PDB meet and greet in whichever room I wind up..

So sorry I could not make this happen...   I REALLY tried..

Hope to see some of you there!!  Look us up..

Thanks for trying, DenWolf.  Super disappointing.  I don't get it.... sounds like plenty of people offered their services.  I photograph (still, not video) club shows/trials and usually when I write to say I am available, would they like a photog they jump at it and are very appreciative.  In fact I've never once not gotten an answer, even the time they already had someone who really wanted to do it so I was told no (not a problem, less work for me!).  These are club level shows/events and the organizers have always had the courtesy to say thanks or no thanks in a timely fashion.  You'd think those involved in putting on an event of this magnitude would have 1) thought about this ahead of time and 2) at least have the courtesy to respond.

That is what i said in my last post. it is the ones running the event in Philly who must be calling these bans. and if this is correct they should never be allowed to hold this event again. DenWolf according to another thread would do it Live Stream but was not getting any answers from anyone. Perhaps if they delayed in answering it would then be too late anyway. working-dog.eu never got back to me to ask if they were going to do it Live Stream this year but again it is now too late at this stage but i will find out why. I cannot think of any other country to ban stuff like this. i thought the USA was a free country? but it seems it is not so free as some say. There is no such ban in the past of any WUSV event that i know off this will be the first. I think it is a sorry affair all round and it takes the fun out of the most important event in the IPO year for 1000,s of people like myself, nothing to look forwards to or talk about, All  thanks to the ones running the event

VKGSD's  :

EXACTLY.  The courtesy of a reply..

Go figure.  I just feel badly for the people competing..

Hope there will be something available..

By the way, gear can be RENTED at a media outlet in Philly..  I did check, so if it comes to that, I am still available..
Not footing that bill though...  way more than shipping my gear!

Steve, it works the other way around.  They don't call a ban, they have to specifically allow it.  Typically whoever puts on an event is allowed to make their own rules about photography and audio, but if they say nothing, then the stadium's blanket rule applies.  They may not care whether people record but may not be aware of the problem...which now they have no excuse since it sounds like people have now made them aware.  There is no "ban" here, the stadium just does not allow spectators to shoot video.  That's not the same as banning a live stream of the event, though the implication is the same (no coverage for us).
