Xeph

Cliff is a good guy.  I met him at last year's national....and so did Wesson.  In fact, Wesson confidently climbed up into his lap to more thoroughly check him out.  She wasn't concerned about him, but quite curious.

Wesson is not shy ;). She also met his grandchildren and was great, even though she has not been raised around them.

Cliff and I agree on many things.  I don't even have a problem admitting the nerve issues that do run rampant in the AmLines.  I work hard to avoid them and do not keep or breed things that are nuts.  But, it IS very important to me to have a pretty animal, and so, to what I'm sure is Cliff's dismay, I've chosen to breed show lines.

I do not delude myself or lie to others about what I will be producing.  It is highly unlikely I'll produce a K9 from such dogs.....but I'll produce some great performance animals.  I truly believe that.

When I need a dog for work, I'll go to the right breeder for that.  I'll probably lament that the dog isn't pretty enough for me, but I'll be pleased with the temperament just fine.

But who knows...maybe I'll produce my own service dog.

Well I'm a good person too who is tired of hearing  private complaints from some here who leave me holding the bag alone every single time I speak up for them.  Don't do it anymore please. From this moment forward you are on your own. Don't like what others say about your dogs and how they treat their buyers, etc, handle it yourselves.

Ibrahim, I don't understand how to use that chart Red Smile.

Gustav and Blitzen are some of the well informed members from whom many here learned a lot, me included. They do not agree on few things concerning our breed. That is only natural, they both are mature and wise enough to manage points of disagreement.

Gusta, I know him from this forum, I learned a lot from him and agree with him in all I heard from him. The only point that I find does not fit is, these are my words here, his not appreciating the angulation of the breed, I mean the correct moderate angulation, I understand it is not of importance to him.

I agree with Gustave that extreme angulation does no good, I agree faults seen in some show dogs such as cow hocks, soft pasterns, roaches etc are to be corrected.

I agree with Gustav that breeding for color or breeding dogs specifically for show ring does not do the breed good, I agree, rather learned from him a lot of things, it only amazes me, why not he gives due value to conformation.

Excuse my using names, Susie appreciates it all and gives due value to each and every part, she is not a work or show enthusiast, I see her as GSD enthusiast, I wish we were all like that.

But even though we are split here between show and work, we should respect each other choices and appreciate the dialogue and friendship we enjoy.

Blitzen, You and I are past the interest in such charts, lol

I'm sad to hear you say that Blitzen. Having had many many talks with Cliff, both on and off forum, and in person, I know he's not making snide comments. I've seen and heard enough snide comments over the years to know who they come from.

Like I said, Cliff and I don't always agree (and there's nothing wrong with that), but snide is not a word I'd use to describe him or his comments. Some others on this thread? Sure. But not him.

I'm not the WL convert everybody told me I'd be, but I also recognize that not everybody cares for AmLines, either *shrug*.

I wasn't referring to you, Xeph. Sorry if that was the impression you got.

by vk4gsd on 20 April 2014 - 21:04

Well it was the best thread of 2014....

Here is the facts the best gsd in the world is in my back yard, y'all can strive but you will only approximate...

Oh, I wasn't trying to assume you were, Blitzen (I work hard at not assuming things these days)...I understand your frustration though.  I do.

And you can't have the best GSD in your backyard, vk...because he's in mine ;)  I kid I kid....all our dogs are the best to us, and that is as it should be.

Teeth Smile you'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now, wouldn't you? I think I finally got it today.
