I want a DNA test. Don't trust those Russian blacks, I Have heard rumours of the possibility of making a back door entry into the gene pool.

Oh, so sorry! Did I maybe, interfere with the sound of: Ca-Ching!

Honestly, I think any sable that carries for solid black could be called a Black Sable.

Both of these would qualify :)

Beetree these are NOT Russian

You have to decide if the overall color dominates or the pattern one, does. A Russian black,  addition negates this.

Then the users of  descriptives used can be uniform and make sense for everybody.

I'd like to see what is under the first one's tail.  I do not believe in "black sable"...except for marketing purposes. I don't know why it annoys me but it does. They're just varying shades of sable, patterned or not. They carry a black recessive...or they don't. Still sable is sable. <shrug>

The second one is quite dark. V Arko vom Zwickauer Marksteig was that dark, seasonally. Could easily appear black unless in direct light. Here's a pic of him with undercoat, when he looks lighter than when shed out with no undercoat showing. Still...you get the idea. Pretty darn dark for a dog in full coat in the sun. No sun and no undercoat...almost a black dog.
