Actually I didn't remember who bred Ice, I read it here but forgot. I don't think I ever even heard his registered name, didn't care enough to ask.  I am not a working line person, so those dogs' names and their breeders'  names are meaningless to me. I agreed with what Jenni said.

I have also had some private conversations with Jyl regarding my thoughts on how to arrive at a diagnosis that could provide the correct treatment for Ice. She never one time volunteered who bred Ice. We have talked in the past about allergies in dogs as well.

OGBS, it's not likely that the original post that opened this thread was created for any other reason than to provide factual information about the dog; I'm one of the people who has no idea what 'GSD Round Table' is, so I don't know what was posted there, but if it is in keeping with Jyl's first post in this thread, than I thinking you're overreaching with the accusation that they were written to solicit drama and attention.  The business end of things didn't enter the thread here until you raised it, a regrettable move on your part--what I took from Blitzen's post, for example, was simply appreciation for Jyl's commitment to the pup solely on the basis of him being a member of their family.  When we see how easily people will wash their hands of a dog if it doesn't look like it will be able to get them on a podium or the VA show rating after all, someone who doesn't abandon theirs just because a physical condition scuttles the plans is worth publicly acknowledging, and is also the kind of client a good many breeders wish for when it comes to placement of the pups they've brought into the world.

Like I said, I feel badly for everyone involved, because I am CERTAIN that even in your wildest of 'what if' scenarios NO ONE imagined encountering these issues in any of these pups would  such as these, just as I'm certain that none of you WANTED this or anything bad to happen to him.

Sorry Hexe, I disagree! Posting what I did isn't regrettable with the way this thread was starting to head. It doesn't look as bad now because someone changed her post to read differently. Certainly not regrettable in light of the lies that were posted on the other web site. Interesting how people recanted what they had written about me, including the site administrator, once the truth was known and then that thread got locked.

OG, have to say it appears you jumped the gun on this one unless there is something that remains invisible to all the viewers here, was this a pre-emptive strike?

everything i read i just got out of it that jyl was commiserating her shattered dream and mourning the health status of her bud among other dog lovers that shared knowedge and dreams of this dog since a pup.

Reading about all these dogs that have health issues from day one and how people continue to put themselves through that hell always leave me scratching my head.  In the end dogs not happy nor is the owner.

If the dog "dont hunt", return to breeder and get a replacement or do what needs to be done.  Thats why you buy from reputable people that guarentee what they sell.  Pups are a crap shoot..no guarentees no matter what line your buying.  I dont allow myself to get emotionally attached until the dog matures somewhat and Im sure I will keep it.  I dont even like naming the dog until 6-7 months..lol.

Vk,

Like I stated before, I posted because I wasn't going to let this thread get out of hand as to what I had or had not done to help Jyl. This thread looked a little differently and was starting to head in a different direction mainly because of one poster who has since gone back and changed the wording of her post. This is not only me thinking this, but, others who read this, as well.  Those who know the entire truth of what has transpired concerning Ice are fully satisfied with how I have handled myself. That is more than enough for me. What a bunch of people think, that have no better life than living it on the interent, is of no consequence to me. If I were to post the entire truth in this matter, as I stated above, it would only serve mainly to publicly hurt the feelings of Jyl and likely destroy some friendships of hers. I am not going to do that even though she was more than willing to post lies about me in the other thread and then allowed the other posters to start bashing me, as well. She could have stopped that at any time by telling the truth. As to whether this was an attempt at attention and drama I will leave that to her own words from the other thread.

Haz, it sounds like you'd be better served by only purchasing dogs that are fully matured and green-trained to the point where you can see they have everything you are seeking in a dog for your purposes.

by Haz on 07 November 2014 - 16:11

Whats green trained?

I will decide what better serves me thank you.  Im realistic about what pups are, not deluded.  Health issues = washout.  Thats how it should be in a working breed.  Thats what pushes people to produce better stock and leads to poorer vets and richer dog owners.  I dont emotionally invest myself in unproven dogs or pups.  A dog gains my affection through its work not simply by existing.

by hexe on 07 November 2014 - 23:11

"Whats green trained?"

It's the canine equivalent of a 'green-broke' horse--the animal has been introduced to the basics of what will be expected of it, which allows a potential buyer to have a better idea of whether a particular prospect being offered for sale will meet their needs.

"I dont emotionally invest myself in unproven dogs or pups.  A dog gains my affection through its work not simply by existing."

Then I feel sad for the dogs and pups that you acquire which have to spend weeks or months before they are permitted to establish an actual bond with you--IF they manage to show you a sufficient amount of promise to warrant any emotional investment from you, that is.

Which is precisely why I commented that you'd be further ahead to stay away from unproven dogs of pups.

i am surprised breeders do not up their fees slightly and only sell green dogs with prelim X-rays.

seems the way to go as far as quality control for so many reasons.
