Question....so is his adult full sister of the same breeding or different sire?..

copy/paste from OP post:

And here is an adult full sister to him:

Joan, I'm well aware of the mixing of blood. That's part of why I said I didn't think a DNA test for breed was going to do the OP much good, especially with the breeds in question...though I don't see much question after looking at Hexe's pic links.

Susie, your English is a hell of a lot better than my German! :) In one scenario, you have negligence and laziness...in another, you have a willful intent to deceive. I see a difference, still. The buyer has a choice to buy from untitled parents; if the buyer is LIED to about the parents of the pups they buy, then they've been cheated out of that choice.

My point is, there is nothing we can do about generations past. All we can do is call someone out for doing it knowingly, in the here and now, which seems to be the case with this "breeder." I think the pup is adorable, and like I said, probably a better dog than she'd have gotten if the ped were correct Wink Smile but that doesn't mean that the "breeder" shouldn't be called out for lying about lineage.

And I seriously do think that pup is ADORABLE.

LadyFrost - the full sister is by the same sire.

Thanks Jenni :)

First off, Storm, I have to co-sign everyone else's point of view regarding your young fellow:  he is GORGEOUS, and unless you bought him as a potential stud dog, there's no reason he shouldn't be capable of meeting every goal you have in mind for the two of you. [And if you DID buy him with an eye toward breeding, we'd have tried to talk you out of it even if your pup was a cookie-cutter black & tan who looked like his great-grandpapa Ari v Eichen Hugel, just because the lineage is such a hodge-podge that appears to have been cobbled together with no clear purpose other than to produce puppies to sell. Your pup may well turn out to be the best dog even born, but the chances of him reproducing himself would still be highly unlikely.]

Second--it is possible for pups in a single litter to be sired by more than one male, and before DNA testing was available to try and sort that out, one could be suspicious but wouldn't be able to prove it one way or the other.

Third--what is eminently interesting to me when I look at the pedigree and I look at your pup and his mature full sister from an earlier litter is that the 'mystery' dog that appears to only have a UKC registration, Rico Rey v Lopez, doesn't show up on the sire's side of the pedigree:  he's the sire of your puppy's mom Ziva, and she looks as basic as a GSD can be when it comes to her coat coloration and markings, so if Rico Rey is the wild card in the deck, the unusual coat may very well be springing from Ziva's side--but looking at her picture, who would've thought that?

And lastly--the question about the AKC allowing a UKC-registered dog to sire an AKC-registered litter, and so forth...well, as has been said, the AKC is a money-driven organization, and it's been well documented that the registration body's shadiness knows no limits. Here's a good source of info on the various shenanigans that the AKC has not only permitted, but has blocked stud dog owners whose signatures were forged on litter registrations for breedings to their males which never took place from rectifying the situations; here's another place you can review more of the AKC's peculiar methods of upholding the accuracy of dog registrations in their hands. The organization rivals the US Legislature for chicanery, graft, greed and power grabbing.

One more thing, StormGSD--is your pup's name Storm, or Ruger, or something else entirely? Don't want to refer to him as Storm if that's actually your user name and not what you call him.  His color is so rich it reminds of a marten's or a wolverine's fur. Just beautiful, and such an intelligent expression he has, too. Heart

I believe we need to take a look at the father´s side of the ped - a black dog out of these ancestors ???
Anybody heard about "Sasha Tori" ? ( Linebreeding 2/3 - there must be a connection between "Tori" and "von Lopez" )
I really tried to understand the kennel names, but I wasn´t able to find any of them within generation 1 - 3...

Who bred your dog?
Did you get any written contract?
Did you create the name "Storm´s Ruger Roar" by yourself?
Who owns the dam / the sire?
What´s the kennel name?
Does the breeder own the sire, too?
Does the breeder own several males? Maybe several dams? 2 ore more litters to the same time?
At what age did you get your pup? There was a pic with your 6 weeks old pup in a car - did you get it that early?
What about any littermates?
What is a "research pedigree" ? Is this official or just a guess? ( Sorry, I´m not used to AKC )
Why have you been able to take a pic of the dam and one older sibling, but none of the sire?
Only 2 people "created" the pedigree on this database - that´s you and "jchauvin" - who is jchauvin?
There are almost no siblings listed of any dogs within generation 1 - 3, and none of them black or sable.

This is just weird - but I still like your dog Thumbs Up
Maybe you should simply forget about this b...sh.. and my questions and have fun with your dog...

StormGSD & All
I found this and thought it was fun. This is the Wolf that is K Dominant Black on K Locus and I bet Sable on the Agouti Locus. So, Both Sable AND Black :) I bet your pup will lighten to look similar to this in the sun. At least you have a way fun and Unique Color! Ohh the advantage to light eyes by the way is said to be slightly better vision at night. Uploaded on Dec 19, 2008 by Spanky mcfister

We had good luck with the DNA test on my dads dog. I think the brand was something along the lines of Canine Heritage? He got it at Petco. I'd imagine it helps to make sure you get a really good swab to send in.

Our story, FWIW: The lady we got Yapper from told us that he was a shih tzu yorkie mix. He was 42 lbs when we got him, and while he was badly overweight at that time, we've got him down to an ideal weight now that is still over 20 lbs. Either way, loads bigger than either of his supposed parents would've been. Build-wise he is about half the height of my GSD, long-bodied (which I guess could come from his shih tzu side) and built thickly, almost reminds me of a bulldog (but not THAT thick). Anyway, we were thinking there is no way he is shih tzu and yorkie, that there HAD to be something else mixed in there somewhere, he is just too big... so we decided to do the DNA test. It came back half shih tzu, half yorkie... no other breeds in the mix, just straight up half and half. So for me, that is too big of a coincidence to ignore and I guess we should've just believed his previous owner in the first place. :)

The pup is a black sable. Neck hairs and stripe behind shoulder is most defined. Older sister is as well. I would question pedigree matching this pup. DNA would tell for sure. Something doesn't add up :)
