More show dogs would be able to jump if they were treated like athletes.  The problem is with the owners who do not give the proper sort of exercise and are also reluctant to train.

More show line dogs could jump if they were bred like athletes.
Nobody said a few don't exist out there, and unless one NEEDS to seek them out to incorporate into their breeding program....and they are difficult to locate because why? Or, they are all in your neighborhood? Lol Got any pictures of these unique dogs, or videos?

Lovely post, Jenni. As you know my Sch3 with all the OB titles and a record of producing generation after generation of muliti titled HOT and BHOT dogs was Ando's half sister, also sired by Cary. I was very excited to learn  you found a viable Ando son and was anxious to see how it worked out for you. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Joanro - I said treated like athletes not Bred like athletes.

If Aria didn't carry that damned blue gene, I'd have repeated it. I have Eden (vom Linmarc) here but she's DDR...she could very well carry blue also. Crossing him on Megy is tempting. I wish he would collect and freeze him but he's an old German....;)

'I said treated like athletes not Bred like athletes.'
I know. It was l who said Bred like athletes...in other words, it's something they are born with.

You missed the whole point of my post, Joan. If you don't want to read the whole thing, just read the last paragraph. I guess nobody needs to incorporate anything different into their lines if they're totally perfect and they can self-sustain for eternity.

There ARE people who want to improve their SLs. My point is that it can be done but there are few, so we need to infuse some outside blood if it is to be successful. Why don't SL people ever breed to working lines? Because money is in winning, and WL/SL crosses don't win. But they often can work, and isn't working the point??

You think a guy in his 70's is making training videos to appease the petulant masses on the internet when he's selling plenty of dogs to those who actually work them on the street? You want city names? You want trainer names? What is it that will appease you, Joan? You seem rather cantankerous lately. If you think your dogs don't need any improvement in the looks, structure, pigment department, more power to you. But live and let live.

Blitzen, Andrew Masia has a female that seems really nice and I was reading her bio and he mentions the Ando line being known for working ability, longevity, and solid temperament. All things of utmost importance.  I looked and it's pretty far back...made me feel fortunate to have found Filius. I do think he's the last producing Ando son, unless someone can show me another.

Oh yes, he should have that semen collected and frozen. Surely he is the last viable Ando son.  I'm sure there are breeders who would be interested if they only knew it was available.

Andrew had Funny's litter sister I think or maybe her half sister (also out of Ando). The  last I heard, he only has one GSD now, his job keeps him too busy to do much with dogs these days.

If I were a breeder, I would definitely be looking to use a good WL  with a good SL female.

I wasn't trying to start a fight with you. You know I was commenting on incorporating SL into a WL , and not this sarcasm; " I guess nobody needs to incorporate anything different into their lines if they're totally perfect and they can self-sustain for eternity. "

You said two of the dogs lived with you, figured you might have taken some pictures. I will refrain from reading any more of your posts, as they ocasionally inspire me to ask questions, which l have always refrained from asking because of these kinds of responses. Why do many SL people get insulting and defensive instead of answering legitimate questions? 'Petulant masses'? You're calling me a petulant mass? Lol. Who's being 'cantankerous' here?

Yeah, I did it backwards. LOL

I don't think many would want to use my boys I got because their dam is WL. If I had a nice SL bitch, I'd breed to him again in a heartbeat. I was trying to buy a Kirschental female but as luck would have it, she only had ONE girl and the breeder kept her of course! I've contemplated buying a SL female if I could find the right one, and crossing her on some Capri sons then back to all WL w/the next generation. My new pup is awesome thus far but no way that dog will still be producing when she's old enough :(

Filius' owner had wanted me to drag Capri out of retirement and keep a puppy for himself in lieu of stud fee but I just couldn't do it.
