Thumbs Up

It's always neat to see a SL working.... particularly an AmSL. They seem to be few and far between, and it is sad.

by Blitzen on 08 March 2015 - 20:03

No,Yogi, I won't do that again. AKC OB is of no interest to anyone here and I don't want to put up a dog I don't own to be a victim of the shit storm that will ensue. If a GSD isn't hanging on a sleeve, it is of very little interest here.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Okay, you through the bait out there so i am going to bite and here goes my negative comment(s)

@kitkat3478 you said

but this is about having fun with your dogs.

I hear this all the time... I really wish i had your sunny disposition or outlook and training and competing, especially those mornings when i have to get up sooo early to meet fellow sport friends to track and all i want to do is stay in bed at least until the sun comes up!!! Don't get me wrong, those moments coming off the field when my dog has performed with me like a teammate who is in sync with what we have practiced is almost magical, But those times get drowned out when my "teammate" says"Nope", "Why?", "Why don't you clear the jump and come back to me?", "Meh, like sitting crooked whats your problem with it"... These are the times i just don't understand the "lets all just have fun with our dogs!!!"

@Blitzen

I train to compete in SchH, that's my thing to do with my GSD for reasons that have been shared on this board before. But i dont get the attitude of SchH is the only thing out there. I just get right off on watching people being active with their dog in what ever activity they choose; Barn Hunt, AKC OB, AKC Rally, dock diving, lure coursing, ect... I would love to see your videos of you being active with your GSD. Didnt you post a AKC OB routine from a Show (AKC calls them shows right, not trials?) you were in?

My big beef with Showline breeding is when the breeder has lost sight of functionality and produces animals that can no longer run long distance, climb walls or even take tight turns. This is why i like the idea of the universal sieger so much!!

by Blitzen on 10 March 2015 - 23:03

Cutaway, the videos I posted were of one of my female's son qualifying in open and utility at the Eukanuba invitational in Orlando. That's called a trial and in order fo the dogs to be eligible to enter, they must have earned those titles with high scores throughout the previous year.

I like IPO too and prefer a GSD who can qualify in AKC and German venues. I agree, the Universal Sieger is the ultimate goal.

thank you hexe,, that link worked for me....

Gustav...I cannot get the video to post, but if you hit the link hexe put up, it does go to the video. There are other video of Peyton there, onn the facebook page.  I would love for you to tell me what you think of Peyton.

    I think the dog does very well, and it is supposed to be fun, isn't it?

Kitkat, I was able to view the video, I thought the dog did a really nice job! Especially as the decoy took her deeper and her head under water on the bite. I have trained with the Atlantic City police k9 academy as early as 1977, when they were one of the pioneers of bite work pursuing a perp into the water being a standard part of the cirriculum. That is still the case today. Much of the work looks very similar to this in the ocean and the bay. I think you do a disservice to the dog by identifying it as ANY line, but rather post it as a good GS doing water work. I believe every top should stand on its own bottom. Nice work!

by Blitzen on 11 March 2015 - 12:03

Very nice, KitKat. She looks like a very serious dog.Thanks for sharing.

by joanro on 11 March 2015 - 13:03

'This is my girl. She is ASL and GSL. I m sure she will be run down y the working people, but this is about having fun with yourr dogs.'

The above remark, and this one.....

'Do you REALLY want to post links to SL's doing something, Kitkat? Good luck with that.'

are uncalled for and do the breed a disservice.
Kitkat, that's a very nice dog, and your comment automatically causes one to look for a screwup. I would not have paid any attention to what "line" your dogs is seeing her doing such good work.
A question...the clip title suggests that was from years ago. When was that?
