Thank everyone for their opinions :)

I was just really curious to see what other people thought....and please don't get me wrong ... I totally agree,

people are absolutely allowed to think or describe their dog however they please...its up to them.

I just really wondered other people's take it on it when you are using words ..like

100% Czech... or "pure Czech"

my excuse is I am not on facebook...lol... so sometimes I just troll thru the classifieds, and I always it interesting when

you look at those ads and then actually look at the pedigrees

anyway...thanks again

I have been with the breed for 50 years now and i  don,t know much about todays pedigree construction or sales tactics.

But the czech gsd i remember was a very distinctive gsd line in structure, colour, and character regarding to Westgerman and DDR lines.

I believe there are still breeders in EU who are at least try to breed these original lines. However purity will never be the case just like any other gsd line.

A pure line in the true sense of the word will eventually implode.

joan let me just repeat myself. back then there were "pure" czech dogs. dogs that were bred on generations of just czech kennels. the czech seeked out certain traits they wanted in their dogs. now days, czech or ddr etc are nothing more than ADJECTIVES used to descirbe a type of german shepherd. someone says czech dog and i have a generic picture of its looks and traits in my head. if you disagree with that then we can agree to disagree.

the word pure or 100% is a marketing ploy and it works pretty well with the masses.

by joanro on 28 March 2015 - 00:03

There have never been 'pure' Czech dogs. Go seven generations back in their peds you will see even pz kennel used dogs from Arminius, Weinerau, ext. If you hear 'Czech dog', and imagine a stereotype, its your prerogative. But that doesn't mean there have ever been 'pure Czech dogs'.

"Czech dogs, Czech shepherds" , etc, is no more than a sales pitch for a fad." I said on page one. it took 3 pages for you to realize the same thing....."the word pure or 100% is a marketing ploy and it works pretty well with the masses." <<<

Finally, agreement.

by boomer11 on 28 March 2015 - 01:03

lol i said it wasnt a marketing ploy? thats news to me. i never even used the word pure to describe the pedigree. you came up with that one on your own.

edit- actually nevermind. the two quotes you put are two completely different things. so no i didnt realize anything other than you arent very good at understanding those two quotes.

by joanro on 28 March 2015 - 01:03

'i said it wasnt a marketing ploy?' <<< you didn't?

by joanro on 28 March 2015 - 01:03

So.... then.... is saying "pure czech" ect just another sales pitch?<<< page two, to make it easy for you, boomer ;-) I think 'the masses' can figure out for themselves, if they research a little bit, what's hype and what's not.
