Wyn Stricklands passion was AKC obedience. She was one of the great obedience competitors that America has ever produced. She put many UD, UDX, and UDT titles on Champion American dogs. Dogs like Wynthea's John and Wynthea's Bruce were examples. In the last 25 years before she passed, Wynny had exclusively GSL dogs that she bred and competed with til she stopped. Do folks know why she stopped breeding, showing, and titling ASL dogs? She told me personally, but I want to hear what kind of spin can be put on this. Her opinion and actions have merit in the obedience world because of her accomplishments as competitor, breeder in this field( multiple OTCH Victors at national levels) and her experience and longevity of excellence.

I bred, trained, and titled Baron Von Buchonia, who is on this database, who I think qualifies me to participate in this thread. When it comes to the type of dogs that become LE dogs, I'll just say that I bred, trained, and placed my first one in 1982 with the Deleware State Police, and my last one was Sept 2014, and many many In between including 5 with NYSP and Sgt Fischer. I'm not going to get into a pissing match with folks that are basically regurgitating what they have been told, but there is thousands of LE dogs working the streets today in America. We don't have to guess or project where the vast majority of LE dogs come from, or where the exceptions come from. There is so much information on Internet that is an exception to rule that people try to promote as "rule" that it is easy to see how people become experts in things they have little or NO actual experience in......it's really very very sad!

Newspaper reporters used to have an integrity that they would not print something publicly unless it was confirmed by two sources, TODAY.....people make up stuff and have it printed in newspapers, Internet, etc. though I have been around this breed quite a bit over the years, I almost never comment on conformation dogs of today, rally dogs, obedience trial champions, dock diving GS, etc.....primarily because I am not speaking from current experience or knowledge on these endeavors. What I do have strong opinions on are aspects of the breed that I have experienced, accomplished, and have first hand knowledge of.....so it's really easy to listen to many posts and determine who is speaking from the journalism integrity of the past and who is speaking from today's standards. I, too think this thread has probably flamed out, but hey in a creative world there is always moreWink Smile
