LOL!!! I can see the grin on your face from here!!Tongue Smile

You know my luck....if I didn't have bad luck than I wouldn't have any!! One is not owned by the breeder anymore and the other is not available to outside bitches. *sigh*

I still really like a Czech stud as well....but now that I have discovered this secret GSL world I may pursue. But, the question is...where are these dogs?

Perhaps, these dogs truly are the exception and not the rule as nobody has posted their dogs, sadly.

Yes, I did breath a big sigh of relief Teeth Smile.  Won't breed to an "outside" bitch? What does that mean? One of the biggest hurdles you might run into is no health checks or xrays or ways to learn about their progeny .

Yes, they are the exceptions in the GSL world, Smiley, no one breeds for that "style" anymore and when they do get them they go as pets.  I'd suggest you look at UKC show results, join some GSD boards that are more oriented to the OB or performance venues.

Exactly...."Nobody breeds for that 'style' anymore"...and there in lies the major problem!!!! They SHOULD be!! Wink Smile

One of the dogs has these titles....UKC- CH CGC, CD, BN, CDX, UD, GO, RE, OA, OAJ, HIC- OFA GOOD Hips/Normal Elbows

I LOVE this style of german shepherd! It is my ideal. It is what I think is classic type. It is what I remember as a kid! And....it is IMPOSSIBLE to find. That is the tragedy.

I am so disappointed that nobody has posted photos of their GSL dogs that have this type....because let's face it...when it comes to typey heads, etc... nobody can top a German showline so you add in the other balanced conformation features from these dogs and you have my perfect dog!! The CLASSIC German shepherd!!!!

...because let's face it...when it comes to typey heads, etc... nobody can top a German showline...

Here's the thing...that's totally a matter of opinion. That happens to be YOUR opinion. Everyone has one. Hence, the lack of agreement. The fact that you are having such a hard time finding dogs you like tells me you're looking in the wrong places, not that what you want is so elusive.

What is it about the dogs you posted that you like? They're, to me, "meh." I won't tear apart someone else's dog, but they just aren't anything unusual or all that exclusive from what I can see. That's why I'm curious what you like about them that can't be found in others.

Why not just buy a dog you like that you can breed to your female? It's very hard to have access to really excellent studs if you don't have all the typical pre-req's in place- titles, super strong peds, show ratings, etc. That's why people who don't want to partake in all that often just buy their own and do as they wish. Is that not a viable option?

Western Rider, I'm very curious who your dogs are. Won't you even PM one or two? Or do you want to stay anonymous because you're an admin? I get it, if so.

Jenni, shocked it took you this long to chime in but I'll humor you....um...no....I learned from experienced breeders long ago the worst thing you can do is buy your own stud.

I already said what I liked about the dogs multiple times.

On another note, nobody has to post anything about their animals if they don't want too. It doesn't, necessarily, effect their credibility...for example you have never posted about all the vast number of titles you have personally placed on all your dogs either. Yet, it doesn't stop you from being the apparent Expert on all things german shepherd. Just sayin'...

Wow...that was bizarre. What is wrong with you? And who do you think I am? Your response makes not one iota of sense unless this is simply a case of mistaken identity.

My comment makes sense- if you can't find what you want, buy it. Or breed it, if you think you can. Find what needs improving and find a male who compensates. Move closer to what you want generation by generation. You keep posting about these elusive creatures you can't find to breed to, saying you have bad luck, yada yada yada, so a simple thought struck me. If someone won't breed to outside bitches, or you have that hard of a time finding a dog whose owner will breed your female, then just buy a dog. Seems simple enough. I don't buy studs, either. In fact the only stud I have ever bought was a dog I'd bred myself, so......... but the point remains that you're the one having all the difficulty, so why not end it and just buy a dog? If you want to be a big breeder, then no, of course you'll have to use outside studs, but if all you want to accomplish is breeding this one particular bitch, and stud owners aren't buying what you're selling, then it's time to execute Plan B. Or give up on breeding that female and get one that the stud owners whose dogs you like want to breed their dogs to.

Excuse me for asking what it was that you liked (and no, you haven't answered specifically- you just keep saying "balance" and "moderation" not specific parts that appeal to you and why) and why it was so hard to find.  I'm sorry if you had a bad experience with someone you seem to think was me...What Smile  That was quite the surprise, LOL.

p.s. If you treat stud owners like you treat people asking questions on a forum, that might be part of your problem. You put your business out there for the world to question and comment on, then lash out at basic, logical questions.

p.p.s. I am too young to be an expert, but I do know that I surely don't seem to have the kinds of troubles you do finding good dogs, so I must be doing something right, or maybe I just don't know a good dog from a bad one. Shades Smile

Smiley, the good breeders of German conformation dogs are too busy on the weekend to post. They should be teaching classes, showing their dogs to clients, and training their own dogs. Give it a few days and see if someone can give your thread a thoughtful post.
