Kalibeck

Just a thought to add to the general confusion... My 7 month old puppy became listless & was taken to the vets several times before they finally did a flat plate of her abdomen & then an ultrasound to confirm a diagnosis of an intrassuseption of the bowel, which required urgent surgical correction. Steroids would help to decrease the inflammation of the gut. I mention this because your puppy's symptoms were very much the same as hers. My preferred vet could not see her, & I made several visits & we tried many meds, as I simply knew something more serious was wrong with her. (I am a retired human nurse.) When MY vet finally got to examine her, she confirmed that her condition was, in fact, quite serious. We were never able to figure out what caused the initial inflammation of the bowel, but her limited movement & weight loss was due to the pain she was experiencing. She would also make 'cooing' moans, poor thing was suffering terribly. Fortunately, our veterinarian surgeon was very talented & was able to reduce the telescoping bowel & then stapled her entire bowel to prevent recurrence, as once this happens, it becomes a recurrent problem unless the bowel is stabilized. The surgery was quite expensive, but she is 7 years old now, & has repaid our investment in her many times over. I pray that you may assist your puppy back to health, it is heartbreaking to watch these innocents suffer. Best wishes, Doctor, & good luck.
