Really at this point I think we need more than individualised
efforts.

I will read Malcolm Griffiths piece when I get a chance; I don't
disagree that he is an excellent GSD-man - but I think he shot
his bolt with a lot of people, who will not listen to him on principal
now. Sad to say, but going by the comments on here last time
he was discussed because he had a judging appointment...

MG was dealt with many years ago, some people should get some perspective and move on.

Well said yadda yadda. He has paid the Bill in full and then some. Move on and forget the past.  His opinion is always worth listening to.

I was surprised to read the Statement put out by the “League” regarding the BOB at Crufts.

The comments and criticisms made by the KC and the media were indeed harsh. The question is were they right or were they wrong in what was reported. As much as I feel for the owners I think the criticism was fair.

With regard to the comment regarding past Judges I have to say that the past history is irrelevant. Dogs are Judged as they are on the day. I think that because of the faults shown on the day the League should perhaps look into the past results because these faults do not appear overnight.

With regard to her being the correct type that is completely wrong as demonstrated on the day. The dog has an undesirable hinge in her back which is seen in every picture of the dog, her movement is not correct and worst of all she has a weak character. As the League has said “ She is a fit, healthy, family dog“. That may be so and acceptable to someone, however, she does not represent the ideals of a Working Breed which is the basis of this breed.

With regard to the Judges past experience in the breed this is just a nonsense. Anyone who has the sort of experience listed should recognise the character weakness and incorrect backline at a glance. Unfortunately the Judge has made gross errors in his opinion.

The Vet passes in the past are not relevant. On the day the Vet only has to pass the dogs as being healthy and not seek to influence the Breed Judge on the day in judging what is appropriate, or inappropriate for the breed.

Coming to the big ring appearance having seen how she was outside the ring whilst waiting to enter it would have been very clear that the character would not stand the pressures. The female should have been withdrawn at this point. The handler despite his experience showed poor judgement when in the ring. He could see that the dog was coming undone and so he should have excused himself for a toilet break and got her outside and away from the cameras. Secondly, when the judge came forward for the dental inspection the handler should have taken over and showed the teeth. The judge was by no means rough with the dog and all he could see was the top teeth as the tongue overlapped the bottom teeth. The damage had been done by then.

I cannot believe that the Statement was approved by all Committee Members because there are people there who should and do know better. Unless someone rocks the boat there will never be a change for the better.  Excuses, excuses, excuses

Do you actually have any actions in mind or is your internet outrage enough for you?

by Mackenzie on 23 March 2016 - 11:03

vk - as someone who has trolled virtually everyone who has ever posted on here and had several warnings from admin, please, just go away. Your comments are not welcomed here as they have little or no value at all.

For the readers sake let me say that my post is not internet outrage but a serious observation on the Statement put out by the League. No more, no less. Whether you agree or disagree is up to you.

why don't you start a lobby group, write petitions, protest, disrupt a show, start a court case, blog... if you feel so strongly about it.

by Mackenzie on 23 March 2016 - 11:03

vk - I must admit that your Trolling has become more polite but at the end of the day you are still a Troll. I am not asking you, or, anyone to agree with me because that is up to the Readers. If you did not like my post about the Statement from the League then say so and, make it clear as to what you disagree with. Also, why do try to cajole someone else to carry out the suggestions in your post when you could, if you had the wisdom and the knowledge simply do it yourself.  If you believe in your suggestions the carry them out yourself.

I am not wasting anymore time on your posts.

Mackenzie
