Absolutely agree 100% with your last post.
But it's more than obvious not everybody thinks as you and I.
It isn't enough to change the breeds direction.
We are between a rock & a hard place, because there is no
way I would want to align myself with the likes of Jemima
Harrison, for instance, or her army of anonymous followers/
'comment' makers.
But somehow those of us who really care for the future of the
GSD need to make those who don't - but are in control of it -
see what has changed / "wake up & smell the coffee".
All practical suggestions will be carefully considered !

BUMP for OP's benefit.

by Mackenzie on 24 March 2016 - 08:03

Hundmutter - There is no need for you to post "BUMP for OP's benefit" when you really mean for your benefit. That is something that I do myself when needed.

If you want the post to continue then you should ask the questions that you want answered instead of getting others to ask so that you can pull them apart later. Invariably there is nothing of any real substance in your posts.

HM knows the euro show world and at least UK and German conformation dogs very well.

Displays more experience than you ever have Mack.

Well I dunno that I am such a mine of information, and as the
years go by it is easy to get less "in touch" (especially if you'd
had the last couple of years I had, with moving home, family illness
and death, loss of my last dog etc !); but thank you.

I am struggling to find how I have NOT answered Mack's questions
somewhere in these 2 threds.

I said the League's response was unsurprising but not sufficient;
I've said where I stand on the development up to the current date
on what has happened with the construction; I've said I do not think
breeders or judges are consciously plotting to damage the breed.
I've reaffirmed that I don't want to be associated with the longer-
term howl against "banana backs"/ Pedigree Dogs Exposed / nasty-
minded journos. That I am talking about the situation we find ourselves
in NOW. That I don't have an easy answer, but that I believe it needs
some major, coordinated push to get everyone to do a rethink. I have
pleaded for suggestions as to the form that should take. I will do that
elsewhere; it certainly ain't getting any response on here.

It will be interesting to see what the new research project
at the University of Surrey comes up with, on conformation
and health. But as we don't even have a start date for this
work yet, we may be waiting a considerable time for their
report. Too long to wait ?

Perhaps a new class should be added for the windy wobbly ones ; ).

That was funny, Mack was in the breed before many of forum members were even born, that does not mean his views are all correct and beyond challenge, but his knowledge and experience is beyond doubt.
HM is one of the most intellectual and knowledgeable members, hopefully she won't be driven away by abuse like was done to my friend Blitzen who was one of the nicest and most knowledgeable on show GSD
