Freda

I have been helped by many of the posts.  I am very new here and no one has given me a hard time.  But I do try to avoid the drama, and I ALWAYS treat people with respect.  I never resort to name calling.  That is one reason the start of this thread made me go cold.

"Uber, and the incredibly stupid sow, SunSilver, and the very ignoranf, young, unable to understand and learn, xeph."

I would have found a less confrontational way of saying that, a way that would not have created the very type of thread that you are wanting to get away from.

just my honest opinion.

Rik, not everyone on the PDB is a breeder or National level competitor or Conformation expert.  Some don't have aspirations to compete or show at National events.  Some people just love the breed and their pets and come here for advice or to learn more about the breed.

If you have an interest and experience in showing GSD's and conformation that's great.  You will find that some of the people on the PDB are new to the breed and are here to learn about conformation handling, showing and anatomy.  You will also find some have different opinions about structure than you do.  The GSD has certainly evolved over the years into almost several different breeds.  You have German / European Working lines, show lines, American SL's, White Shepherds, Alsatians etc.  They are all different and each type has it's own  group of admirers.  I have my own personal preferences as I'm sure you do.  IT doesn't mean we should ridicule others for their personal taste or lack of it.

There are some people on the PDB who lack experience and knowledge and post any way.  Sometimes offering erroneous information which could potentially be dangerous.   One must be really careful when taking any advice off of the Internet..

I,  like you come here for the GSD related content.  I don't like the OT stuff and have made  that clear.  This forum was much better a couple of years ago, better topics, no OT BS and not nearly the drama and insults that are rampant now.  I have owned GSD's for about 25 years, starting with an American SL dog.  In '94 I got a German Sl male.  Back then German Show lines were a little harder than they are now and he was an awesome dog.  V rated, HOT SchH 3 KKL1A, AD.  I showed that dog several times under SV Judge Albrecht Woerner (Thermodos Kennels)  where he got his V rating and KKl1A.  At that time I handled dogs in many conformation shows, including regional and National events.  I started in SchH in 94 with that dog and still decoy every weekend.  In '99 I got my first working line dog and haven't looked back.  I have owned all kinds of GSD;s over the years including a wonderful white GSD. I love the breed and have been involved in GSD rescue.   I can certainy understand why people like their style of GSD.   I like any GSD with a strong stable temperament.  For me temperament and working ability comes first. I think having some experience with different lines and styles keeps me a little open minded.

All of my dogs are my pets and I work, train and title all of them from pups.  I'm sure with your experience you can add a lot to the forum.  I would recommend not taking everyone so seriously.  I have no issues with Sunsilver or Xeph, I have never had a problem with either one of them.  I understand what you are trying to accomplish but if you insult people while doing it your message will fall on deaf ears.  I spend less and less time here.  I have found some other forums where people are polite and they have moderation.  You  may enjoy some of them even more, the PDB is no longer the premier site for exchanging info on GSD's.  It's a good resource for pedigree info but that's about it lately.

hamza. I have to agree with bazza.

You are a very stupid and ignorant fool as regards the GSD.

Please post your rebuttal with proof of your accomplishments.

Other wise, I have to place you with the sow "SunSliver", Uber and also xeph who choose to make many comments on this forum (German Shepherd Dog) without any experience or knowledge.

Best to you,
you stupid shit.,

Rik.

Sorry guys, I think I made it pretty clear in an earlier that when confronted with incredible stupidith, I act incredibly stupid.

Bob, I do regret that you take offense, since I know that you are a serious GSD person

You ask me on another thread if I work my dogs. I answered and now ask you at what level you compete.

Xeph

You know Rik, i teach puppy class at my kennel club, and invariably I am ALWAYS asked these same questions every 8 weeks:
How do I get my puppy to stop biting me/other family members?
What should I do when my puppy potties in the house?
How do I keep my puppy from jumping on everybody?

Every 8 weeks like clockwork, these same questions over and over and over again.  "Stupid" questions.

I remember when I had those questions.  They are not stupid questions, nor are the people stupid.  There are three instructors in that class, and each one of us may have a different solution for the person...and that person comes to ALL of us for advice.  We never treat them as stupid, or under us, or ignore them...we simply give them an idea and let them choose for themselves.

One person won't agree with every single thing that I say, that Kathy says, that Cathy says....and they're certainly not stupid because of it.  If anything, they're smart for realizing that no single one of us has all the answers.

So, when I am confronted with "stupidity"....I give my advice and let the advisee take what they will.

xeph, on another thread, you ask me about a dog and what happens to him. This dog is owned by a very well known and respected breeder. An AKC judge, 42 straight years to the Sieger Show, many dogs brought from Germany and finish Ch. in America, His kennel is even very prominent in your dog.

So, since I travel to Germany with this person and have many conservations with him, I tell you what he tells me that happens with the dog.

Your very next post is to call this person dishonest. And I opened the door for this.

I can not believe what an incredible lack of tact and wisdom you display. This ia an international board.

I travel all Germany and Holland with this guy. People who sell him dogs 25, 30, 40 years ago come up and shake his hand. Not one person do I hear call him dishonest. And we are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars changing hands.

Also never does he try to "stiff" me on any expense, despite cutting my travel down by 50%.

Also, this person travels 1500 miles round trip oh help me choose my first "German" dog. That is my pup in my avatar.

I have to go back and erase every post I make leading up to this so it does not appear I agree with you. And when I ask you to remove this statement, you do not do so.

I will be very embarassed if I have to explain to this person why I bring his name up in the first place and give such as you the opportunity to slam him.

Rik:

I don,t compete against any one, the only competition I have was the last score in my score book.  So what level do you want to call it fat guy level? I call it my level, I and my dog will excell to our best that we can be one step at a time one mistake at a time. When i,m asked for advise I can only give my opinion from my experience thats the best any one can do but I do it with out calling other peoples dogs peices of shit, or acting as if there questions or comments are beneth this sites level that my friend is pure arrogence and that I have no use for or time for. I only purchase dogs from Puppies no older then 10 weeks I believe you arent a real trainer till you,ve taken a dog from pup to final title you never learn the full cycle of life or training till that happens. Offense you have no idea what I take offense to and nothing here offends me more then someone who claims to be learning and will cut down others dogs, training, experience, and have never meet the dog, trainer, person in question. that is real stupidity so to reply to stupidity with stupidity...well you will have to think that one over and answer  your self.

Good luck to you and your dogs and your endevores again try not to take your self too seriously it makes life short and makes your underwear bind...so be more like me and don,t wear any.

                                                                                                                                           Yours Truly Bob McKown

Post Script. Rik if you want to know more about who I am go to the general topic page and look for the Who is Bob McKown thread but first take a big breath because it,s not much of a german shepherd post but it is ...oh my god heaven forbid a bit of levity.

Your very next post is to call this person dishonest. And I opened the door for this.
And that's your issue, not mine.  As much as you may want to believe it, my comment had NOTHING to do with what you said.  I stated before that I had contacted Bill myself (maybe 2 years ago now), and asked him about the health of his dogs.  I was told  that since his dogs were German they had no issues...I called BS and decided not to get a puppy...THAT'S what I was calling dishonest.  There is no way you breed 30+ years and don't get a health issue.

His kennel is very prominent in my dog way back in her pedigree...Mazarati's in there too, and several others.  what's your point?

I have to go back and erase every post I make leading up to this so it does not appear I agree with you.

Sooooo it's my fault you're paranoid?  Heaven forbid you appear to agree with me

And no, I'm not going to remove my statement, of course not.  Your embarrassment is not my problem....

Bob, I also wish to get my first W/L dog. Here is the bitch I like very much.

She is now bred and expecting and I have conversations with her owner.

She has many HIT in Germany, also defeats all comers, Mals, dutch shepherds, all she goes HIT.

I always choose the bitch, never the male.

Anyway, what do you think of her.

I certainly benefited using this board and was made aware of dog food issues (Canidea problem). Although the information it was not it time to save our GSD "Muri" only because I stumbled across this board 2 months ago. The board needs moderators and do not allow posters to post without credentials. Creating a new screen name seems to be problem, split GSD forums into categories would help. Obviously this site has a captive audience and receives an amazing amount of hits (the money) & rank very high on all search engines with its key words. Now, may be an excellent time to tweak this site to make it beneficial to the webmaster and the posters. Don't let this opportunity slip through your hands. Most website owners like myself are envious of your accomplishments. I have to work everyday to get this size audience, congratulations. Thank you and this board for helping us.
