Nice reaction from a solid looking dog.

I have an 8 year old pit bull - excellent, 24/7 alarm dog with anyone or anything approaching the property.  She has a really intense firepower display at the door/window and deep throaty bark for a 40 pounder.  Good for rodent and feral cat control but off her property, not a thread of DNA in her to show forward human aggression.

the video doesnot give much to go on at all, and why ask for pedigree that we see barking on a chain, without seeing what he is barking at, furthermore, pedigrees dont mean much in relation to this vid, as dogs from every bloodline will show this behaviour in one way or another in this scenario

also agree with others, if you post a video, you will get response, and maybe you dont like all but thats it, also i didnot say it was junkyard dog, but junkyard dog scenario

Blade, I care about the DOG in front of me, I did not judge anything, but, even if I did, that would be my opinion on a video posted in a public forum asking for opinions.
Indeed, I would like to see what is causing the dog to act this way, is it a human, is it a cat, is it a donkey? Of course that is a legit question to ask, since I am not prescient.

saw that video yesterday and i also don't get clear picture of intention and goal of that test. dog did bark. so what? any dog with at least some territorial instinct, will bark at homestead.
the only what i noted is that this dog is somewhat reserved in his reaction, which can be a good thing in certain application.

Well if nothing else it shows how people look a videos differently. U will never be able to tell what is going on behind the camera so I guess it is what it is. Thanks for your comments appreciated. I will make some more videos as the lock down is coming to a different stage and should have better areas to do so.

Valk the idea it for the dog to pick up on a stranger coming up the lane from the house as this will be part of his job thanks

Gk1 I think you understand wha was being asked of the dog. Thanks

It looks like he did want you wanted him to do and I would be happy with it. I don’t know how far away the guy was when he went off, but I can see the potential for the ambush effect with his demeanor. It may be a good idea to have someone show a strong reaction from a distance ever so often when he unloads.

Emoryg I'm doing just as you say at this point. Now he is reacting as soon as someone approaches gate which is about 50 metres from him. That was his first test on this ground but as you can see I the video he picked up on the farmer early. It just took a bit longer for him to kick off as his nerve is very strong and is not intimidated easily
