JOZOLLI

In some countries do people call the 'walk' the gait??? the picture of Opal Karanberg is the dog WALKING as is the first picture of Orbit. If thats a gait to some folk then what HAVE you all been looking at? What are these pictures about anyway??? Lenny has posted rubbish pics of Ghandi just so that he can slate the dog... but what are all these other walking (and the odd gaiting pic) meant to be achieving? Where is the pic of Yoker and Ghandi? thats one i'd like to see. And why are people still only on this message board to rubbish other peoples dogs? Try being constructive people!!!

I totally agree with you!!!!!!!!!!!

Correct Jozolli - too many people use this site to get at other people and their dogs. I have never come across so many vitrolitic people.

Honestly I like to see those dogs walking in the show ring...cuz they look animated and energied and it is good to see the life in them! However, I am most impressed with the way my dog treads in my fenced backyard...cuz he treads like a magnificant horse!

I would only be so lucky to have a dog like Ghandi...and so would most of us !!

by snodog on 11 November 2004 - 18:11

says who? Ghandi is of no value to me since he is not mine...having a good ranking doesn't mean anything...there are a lot to know about a dog than what one can see in the show...i am lucky to have my dog...i wouldn't trade him for even a million dollars!

seems like a semantics problem. technically, all different ways/speeds of moving (walk, trot, pace, gallop) are gaits. in the context of the show ring , when we speak of a dog 'gaiting' , we mean trotting. (unless its an old english sheepdog, which ambles. )

Kioanes, unfortunately not only OES amble :-(( However not sure about your list of speeds including PACE, because pacing is another expression for ambling. Regards Sue

along with the trot, the shepherd has a flying trot, the gaits need more discussion. a shepherd can have a good trot while being shorter in length, or have a longer stride that comes with the excessive length in body, legs, front and rear assembles, some shepherds have. the more correct the croup the nicer the under reach and follow through.
