My first two dogs were purchased out of Germany already with titles. The paperwork on the first dog came with his shipping paperwork. The second dog took a few weeks for the "owner" to get the pink papers processed. Upon receiving the German Papers, I took the front and side pictures and submitted for the Foreign registration with AKC and got that back in about 3 weeks. If all the paperwork is in order you should be able to complete the paperwork process in about 2 months.

Klossbruhe, you are joking? Anything over two months is unacceptable and perhaps an alarm should go off as a potential ripeoff. The process is simple and quick if the paperwork is in order.

It is usally the importer's reponsibility to request the paper. That is an automatic.

I’ve never known the Ahnentafel to actually physically accompany the dog, while in transit! Vaccination records and feeding instructions yes but … either way, The SV Papers arrived within a month of the Pups. My mother imported an older Pup and waited for her SV Papers for almost 3 months, but they did eventually get there. Contact the SV by e-mail and inquire as to whether the transfer of Ownership of the dog, into your Name has been or is in the process of being recorded with the SV, they usually get back at you within a day or two. It’s really easy to get to feeling uneasy about the papers not arriving as one thought they would or should but contact Sabine Leib (eMail: akc@schaeferhunde.de) and see what she’s got to say! When she confirms that you’re on record with the SV as the owner of this ‘your’ dog, ask for her to process the AKC Bescheinigung as well. (Once transfer of Ownership of the dog has been recorded with the SV, the SV will send the Ahnentafel, Pink Papers or whatever you care to call those papers, to you or the Address provided to the SV by the Breeder/Seller of the dog! You need not contact the SV and ask for them to send you those papers, they’ll do it automatically, as Sue suggested! Foreign Registration of a dog with the AKC is $50, You can either download this Foreign Registration Application Form (http://akc.org/pdfs/foreign.pdf) or ask the AKC to send you one by mail.

"I’ve never known the Ahnentafel to actually physically accompany the dog, while in transit! Vaccination records and feeding instructions yes but … either way," VKH, don't know who you deal with but once the money for my dog was wired to the bank and the air arrangements made, he did come to the states and his papers were with him, complete papers, Ahnentafel, scorebook, health record book and scorecards, although I din not ever get feeding instructions. Reading the stuff on here, I am growing more and more thrilled with the person that I did business with. He continues to offer great dogs and at very reasonable prices. I also am finding many of the leading importers using his services. The second dog came to the states with health book and copies transfer papers but his papers were being processed by the SV (he had just recently received his title). As soon as the papers were processed they were forwarded to me directly. {… either way,"} whatever.....if the paperwork is in order, two months is the most it should take to get your papers.....
