with so many breeders, brokers, used car sales man trainers how do you know your dog will protect you, just cause the dog bites a sleeeve or bites the man in a full body suit is not %100 full proof.lines are important but what do you look for? also papers do not say your dog will protect you ,papers say you have a pure bred dog.

There are allot of lines and titles to look at which is fine but out of 30 dogs you look at only 1-2 will fight for you when you need them.It used to be the schutzhnd lines that the americans bought for police and sport,20 -30 yrs ago those dogs would do the job, today its about scores and titles which if that is what you want then you are fine.you should look at other dog sports like PSA,Ring,Mondio ring, and the KNPV which by the way %50 of the dogs trained for that go to police, military,or private security.

There are sport dogs and for real dogs that do sport ,when you see the dogs at trials you will see the difference ,like for example when the handler outs the dog the dog seems like he just wants to bite and fight that is the dog who will not let you down.So what if the dog has an out problem for points that is not good ,but in protecting you is ok,you do not want the dog to let go when he gets kicked or punched by the bad guy or if gunfire goes off, remeber the dog is for giving you time to getaway and be safe.If you have kids like I do it will give me time to get my family out and my wife can calll911 with a cell phone then my dog and I can deal with the threat,if the bad guy trys to hurt my dog then my weapon will put him down.

Also if you look a dog to protect you nomatter what that ,dog should not be a pushover and what I mean by that is if the dog lets you man handle him then he will let anyone do that.A really strong and hard dog will only take so much before he lets you have it.I am sure you have heard the term alpha role your dog, well a dog that has high fight drive will not let you do that he will let you have it.So when training this kind of dog you need to be black and white with his work, and also earn his trust when you have those things in balance then will they dog protect you.

Padded sticks are no good its like wearing boxing gloves when you get punched,it stings but does not create allot of pain, whips, delrin, and reed sticks create pain and from that pain fuels fight drive.I am not saying go have the decoy whip you dog hard, what I am saying is a little bit at a time and build the dog once the dog has a great foundation he will handle pressure. If you 5 yr old son gets punched by an adult he will not fight, now give the same kid 10 yrs of karate training he then can take a punch and fight for himself. The dogs genectics are the samfirst the dog wants to fight, training enhanses that.

There is a video that shows the two types of dogs and how to select them if you want contact k9unit5@yahoo.com .
