We've got a couple of Malinois puppies that have too much coat.  One is very fluffy, the other much less so, but still fluffy at the base of the ears and not slick coated on the body.  Does anyone have a picture of an adult coated Malinois please, to see just how coated they end up, all I can find are show type Tervs and they don't look like them, they have the typical working Mali heads and I can't imagine they would have anything like as much coat as that..

if you can post their pedigree here and pics of the parents, then i can tell you if longhaired(tervurens) were possible in your litter

I have no doubt they are throwbacks to Tervs in the background, it is not possible for them to be crosses of any other breed and I have seen puppies like this in Mali litters before.  I'd just like to see what they are likely to look like as adults as they do not have anything like the coat of a show Terv pup, but are fluffy compared to their siblings.  Anyone here have a Tervuren born out of Malinois?

Wait until you get a black mal, those look awesome I saw one a few years back. Both parents were normal short coats and fawn/red and the pup was solid black.

Not this dog, i just found a pix

A friend of mine, who has since passed on, had a malinois that has a very plush coat.  Not quite Terv but longer than the average Malinois.  He is from AKC show lines.  Here is a photo of him as a young adult:

Thanks for the pic Psycht, the one with the least coat is looking shorter every day, but not slick, I bet she will look like that.

You would have better luck predicting the adult coat if you could find info on any coated relatives to the pups.  I've had long haired pups in my Malinois litters with a LOT of coat, enough even a couple of conformation Terv breeders were impressed/envious, who ended up with no more coat then the dog pictures above.  And I've had other pups who were obviously coated, but not that coated, who ended up with quite a bit of coat as adults.

These are two Tervs out of Malinois,  Pictures 2 and 3 are of the same dog, at around 18 months and then 10 years old, showing the increase in coat and color as he aged.  I have other photos but they are on my Facebook account which I can't access right now.
