Hello there!

I've adopted a puppy about 2 weeks ago and I was wondering how much of a pure breed he is.
Seen the mother, looked like the real deal to me, also seen the father in pictures (with the mother), look even more impressive, the owner assured me the father was also a Belgian Malinois (the one in the pictures).

I have some doubts about the pup, even though he is super cute and I'm going to take care of him regardless.

About 6 weeks old here (by the time I got him):

He is 8 weeks old now and got bigger even thought the size of the ears barely changed, made some searches and the ears definitely needed to be bigger, even erect in most cases.
Any expert advice?

Thank you!

Looks like a cute Belgian malinois to me. I wouldn't be concerned.

The ears are probably about ready to pop up, that may be why they are in the shape of a "V". I wouldn't be too worried. Give him some time, puppies are constantly growing and changing.

I am not very familiar with Mals and if they are anything like GSDs in relation to ears and lineage, but when I got my GSD as an 10 week old pup (WL/SL), her ears had already been standing up for a while.

Yes. The ears do seem very likely to pop up at one point. In fact, this is the only thing I would want the puppy to have, he already looks pretty solid and well proportioned, hope things will stay like that and the ears will be erect.

I've made some research online and its not uncommon for pups to get their straight ears at 3 months or even later, so fingers crosses.

Anymore opinions?

My only comment / concern is that the looes, dangly rear dew claws were not removed. And because they look loose they my get into trouble later when the pup is bigger. Nothing hurts like a ripped off dewclaw! I'd look into having them removed while it's still small.

@mirasmom - Thank you!
@dragonfry - Indeed. I'll get that fixed pretty soon.

Update. Ears are up, almost 4 months now. Very well developed, huge drive, very intelligent, about 15kg. Seems like he was the real deal.

Dose the current weight sounds good? Any weight charts available?
