serious doubts about this

Doubts about what specifically?

sireline and what has been produced out of that line, not my kind of dog at all

by asomich on 29 May 2013 - 23:05

Ofdalip, I see that you own Dylan. If you already have a dog from the first litter, why are you asking the public for it's opinion on this repeat breeding.  Guess I don't understand why you want information from the public when you have it yourself first hand.

I know the dam's lines.  Her father Zami (Jue) van Joefarm is so serious he was retired from competition. I have dogs with Urosh van Joefarm behind them. It is a serious line, not very "drivey", and, in my opinion, needs to be offset accordingly with the right mate for breeding.

I am not familiar with the sire of these litters.

I knew the sire looked familiar so I did some internet searching. I found info on the sire Apache on Working Dog Forum. He was imported by Frankie Cowen who describes him as a nice family dog and part time worker for the way he likes to train.  Frankie describes his pedigree: "apache sire side throughs strong stuff , dogs like rocco are du val l'abbe ( same as land mechelar ) dogs like paddock came out of the old stuff (De La Cite Des Mauges) i gave u these names as they are in states and have been seen so people know how phyiscal and strong and dominat these dogs were, apache isnt dominant and that was the reason they bread otto, becuase otto calmed some of that dominance police dog mentality down and gave clearness to the dogs. if you look back the lines there some strong willed dogs in there and sometimes those dogs can be to much".

But you have to take into consideration the individual sire and dam, their lines, and then the way their genetics come together in a litter. Breeding is an educated guess and gamble.

Hi asomich,

Thanks for the response.
I know nothing about breeding nor the rational that goes behind it. I do know the sire and dam and their particular drives.
Apache and Lexa only had one litter (resulting in Dylan plus 6 other males). I was just wondering what traits they were
looking from the pair. Lexa is VERY Sharp and protective. Apache is EXTREMELY driven but mellow. Dylan was the runt
of the litter but is still well driven as his dad and a little less sharp than his mom. He is pretty strong willed but considerable
training has helped alot. A family dog not a working dog.
