Anyone tried Earthborne Holistic Primitive Natural dog food?  It is high fat and protein. Looking for something like this to boost my 12 month old Malinois feeding. Right now I'm feeding Blue Buffalo Wilderness for puppy.  Vet suggested something high in fat. Found this food. It's grain free. Haven't bought any yet. Would like opinions from anyone who's used it. Thank you!

I have used all/most of their products as I like to switch flavors.  I like the product I use it on my seniors along with raw.  The younger dogs get raw and I add this once a week.

Laura,
Thank you for the info! It has a high protein (32%) and high fat (18%) which is what I was looking for.

Can you call around or e-mail them for a sample pack? Some companies will go the extra step to help a customer out. i get samples from several specialty food shop in my area. They don't cost the shop owners anything to hand out and they might just gain a loyal customer.
Worth asking.

I used to feed one of the Earthborn grain free foods. I think it was the buffalo. The stools are almost black and I find that I've had two dogs want to eat their poop when they didn't on other foods. I found it interesting. Also with all the fat you would think they would have nice shiny coats but unfortunately they did not. It is cheaper though than many of the other foods at least here in Vegas. I wasn't very happy with the results so I went back to raw. I actually had better luck with Evangers Rabbit.

Yep, I used it and my male did well on it, but it was too much protein for him and his stool was a bit pasty so I switched to Acana on the advice of the vet. In my opinion it is fairly priced for the quality ...,

Kool maybe this will work for your dog, if not don't be afraid to try other companies. It's worth their time if it gains them a customer.
I take any samples (except cheap crap like purina) if i'm at shows or events. My dog loves the goodies

I started out with that but then got chewed a new one for having my 4 month old GSD puppy on it..the calcium/phosphorus ratio was way off for a puppy. Which was too bad cuz she really liked it and did well on it. I did switch her to Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy and it's been awesome for her too.
