"Also I am one who does not believe in the practice of rehoming a dog, never have never will."

If I recall correctly, you also don't believe in using prong collars or e-collars; is that correct?

bzcz,

I don't intend to debate it with you, what a waste that would be.

Personally I've never met anyone involved with a humane society that I would care to debate anything with.

But hey, that's a whole other thread too.

Keith,

I have never needed a prong collar because of how and when I train, but I can see a use for one later in a dogs life if someone did not lay the proper ground work to start with.

It also has to do with the dog itself, that too is another thread, I can't say they don't have a purpose, just that I've never needed one.

Yes I have used an e-collar for very specific problems as well as electric fence chargers, but not routinely no, not for simp shit that should be handled differently.

I have had dogs brought to me completely ruined by people who thought they knew what they were doing, a dog never forgets.

I never get in a hurry.

I have taken in several dogs in my life time, only one did not work out.

I've seen other dogs go to second homes and do ok, but never because of problems with the dog itself.

I have put dogs down over the years for various reasons.

I have never pawned off a problem dog to someone else.

Clearly its a waste.

Life's too short to waste on those who can't learn.

Back to the OP's progress and something that is productive.

What is your behaviorist justification for using gentle leader?  How is that going to solve out of control aggression against people entering a territory of the dog?

It's not.  It was simply a suggestion on the tail end of a detailed program.
