You didn't intend for it to be negative, as you did try to get a response by email, without going public...It is obvious you were not being disrespectful to the breeder, but only trying to get an honest answer. It was your decision to handle it this way, and you did what you thought was best.....There is no reason to doubt your judgement......Just because it was in reference to a "reputable" doesn't change the fact that your questions were answered in an evasive manner......Stand behind your decision....No one has to agree or disagree with you, its only opinions.......

I'm not trying to be insulting or insinuate that you don't know the proper way to measure a dog, but unless you have a wicket, and are measuring him at the proper spot, it's possible he's taller than you think.
I DO understand why you're upset. I would be, tool. Why would anyone lie about that?
I usually am too honest about my dogs, lol.

Okay, fair and I will tell you,
I made the measurements on a level concrete floor of not too smooth finish. Me and my friend we made him stand near the wall his front legs directly under him. I brought a carpenter level the one with the bubble. I placed it on top of his withers resting on the bones, I adjusted the level till the bubble was in the center and the farmer made a small line with a pencil on the wall from undrneath the level, then I measued the distance from the mark on the wall to the floor (59) cms. We repeated this three times.
Do not laugh on me, I did this too
my friend placed a 3 mm steel plate on his withers, the farmer held the staff end resting on the floor and I with the level surveying instrument (Dumpi level) took a reading on the staff then took a reading staff resting on the mid of the plate over the withers, calculated the difference and minus 3mm and got two readings (59.25) 59.30) cms.
What do you think?

Sounds damn accurate to me.

If you want to solve the problem, I would gladly take him off your hands. I love west german show lines. I happen to think he is a lovely working dog size and would be very happy with him. I do understand your frustration though but he looks damn nice to me. Best of luck Nanci

My advice, if your dog's character matches his structure, then you have a very good dog. regardless of a few cm's and whether or not you were mislead by the breeder. You are still more fortunate than many.
Always keep in mind, in the future, that breeders need to place lesser dogs also. And regardless of their reputation, will do so when the opportunity arises. This is "real" life and now you see. This is what often happens when you do not go and put your hand on the dog. Learn from it. I have made this mistake many times.
You seem determined to promote the GSD in your country. Do not stop because of a poor experience.
