Looks like the American showline breeders are not interested in any requirements... no reaction...

by gsdstudent on 07 July 2014 - 17:07

Susie; it is not just the show line breeders. There is a huge percentage of people who breed/sell GSD and do nothing for the betterment of the breed. Another thread makes an unworkable suggestion about '' royalities''. What every breeder needs to do is ''pay it forward''. do right by the standard of the GSD.

Susie, I've asked for pm's now and so far have had some good response, 2 from ASL breeders to my home email address. They learned about the project from a GSL breeder who reads here who knows me personally. Most ASL breeders don't belong to this database.

In case anyone is intererested in asking the same of the workingline breeders, there is also an interest in getting input from them as well. Maybe one of the workingline breeders here would agree to generate another thread that would ask the same questions of them?

I´ll never get why people don´t understand that the only possibility to know about the temperament/drives of their German Shepherd is WORKING THEM BY THEMSELVES.
If I understand correctly, Blitzen tries to collect suggestions of people who are involved in this breed. I know Americans don´t need to go the German Way, but for decades now they are going nowhere...Maybe there is a better way than ours, but as long as nobody isn´t even interested, things won´t change...

Gsdstudent you are 40 years too late but amen

by Blitzen on 07 July 2014 - 17:07

That's the goal, Susie, to try to find a better way in the US. I have received more positive suggestions than I ever expected; very few from this board, but there are other breed boards with open minded owners and breeders who understand that there is a lot of room for improvement.

Blitzen, you should let people from this forum into those boards, i am sure they will want to help you in your goals too.

Susie gets it!

The dogs must be worked and titled by their owners.

Oherwise the breed falls.
