Iberihim,

I will tell you this,   I used to say, "do not laugh on me".

And when I sang the Chris Christofferson song

I would say... take the ribbons from your hairs.

Here it will make people fall out of the chairs laughing
at you..... but I don't know why.

Do not laugh at me....is the way you say it.

Ibrahim, I didn't mean necessarily that YOU were the one who was inaccurate. I was trying to show that there can be a discrepancy of decent proportions between several people all measuring the same dog. I should've specified that I meant "you" in general, not simply, you, Ibrahim.

I was on the phone when I typed that, and looking back at it now, I realized it read quite differently than I meant. Sorry.

Your method is exactly correct, and on principle, it would greatly disappoint me if I had been lied to in this matter. I understand that you are not bashing the dog, rather, that you were misled deliberately. While you may have bought him anyway, his true stature should've been properly and accurately disclosed.

Best of luck to you.

Ibrahim, these who only present what is bad of the GSD, will never understand what is good.

I spent many years producing and pursing what I now realize is bad. That does not make the GSD as a breed bad, only my choices.

I dont' know what you are on Max, but can I have some?

Ibrahim, all of your dogs are very nice ones.  Please keep us updated on this fellow.

How are your others doing?  Are they turning out the way you'd hoped?

RS, I like to show dogs. I am not so stupid I do not recognize what is wrong. I have spent a lifetime contributing to what is wrong. And I can offer up my own dogs as proof. Who have Ch. titles in U.S. and Canada.

I went to Germany, having never seen an SV dog. Having no idea there is w/l or s/l. Just thinking that there is a better GSD than what I have known. Yes, I was disappointed in some of what I found. Very much so.

But, also, I found (IMO only) very good dogs and very good breeders.

And, now here I see those who are "authorities" on the GSD. Who have no accomplishments past reading a book and typing on a keyboard.

Who have invested no effort or finances to learn what is correct. Who have no success in any area. Trials, shows, sv shows, Am. shows, British shows, rally events, nothing. Just a non stop yakker with no neutral position to tell others what is correct.

There is no absolute "correct" in today's world of the GSD.

I have no "job" to offer the GSD other than companion, training partner and sometimes, a small comfort when my world turns upside down. And I do not apologize to anyone. I feel this is very good "work" for the GSD in today's world.

Pharaoh

by Pharaoh on 11 November 2010 - 09:11

Ibrahim,

My method for measuring height is very close to what you did.

In my garage (level concrete floor), I attached a tall wood ruler to the wall (sheetrocked and plumb walls).  I stood the dog next to the ruler and placed a large level on his withers and marked where the bottom of level touched the ruler.  Since Pharaoh has a mind of his own, I repeated the process several times to check for consistency.

My impression of the experience you have just had with this breeder is that she was evasive to the point of deception.  You did not get an answer until you posted about it on this board.

This is a lesson for all of us to deal with the sticky points in the transaction before it is concluded.  There is usually a reason for evasion.  In this case it appears that she either didn't want to tell you or didn't care to bother finding out.  You asked how tall the dog was repeatedly.  It was a factor in your decision making process that she chose to withhold.

I drove 13 hours twice to meet Pharaoh's breeder and parents.  I drove to several other kennels.  My decision to go in person limited my search to the Western USA.  It is difficult having to trust strangers.

well..
in my opinion his height is to Standard. give him some time.
there are many cases that males still grow up after 1 yr old age.
sometimes they look totally diffrent.
