DesertRangers

We have alot of Greyhounds here in South Texas due to the Grayhound Racing track that just shut down in Corpus Christi within the last six months. We always had alot of them needing homes and as you noted only the best were used for breeding and as they live 10-12 years many needed homes and we had some issue because some people were putting them down when they were no longer wanted for racing or breeding.  I have been around Greyhounds(never owned one) and they are beaufiful anamils and due to lean look they can look unhealthy but apparently overall are  a very healthy breed.

I have seen dogs worse than this: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/499580.html

This is a kennel no far from me. All AM. Bred. I see these dogs & just want to cry, because thier walking looks to be so painful! :(

One of thier dogs was an adopted retiree from showing. She was 10 yrs. old. She came to our shop for grooming  every 8 weeks. The new owner had no idea about GSDs, he just loves the breed. Needless to say this girl lasted only 6 months for him.

I  usually have people coming in  & ask on where they can purchase a great pet pup. I don't recommend this kennel.

Even though they do have some goo reputation. I don't think they are breeding to standard. Their dogs look like muntants to me.

I have tried several times to look up thier kennel, but can not find anything. Their dogs also carry CH. & ROMs but I don't think these are fair titles for these dogs. These GSDs, when they walk, walk on hocks & look as though they are trying to go to the bathroom.

If anyone can find a website, They could be under Champion Kennels or Millertime Shepherds in Sterling, Massachusetts.

Yvette..I know the owners of Millertime kennel and they are very good people..

And please stop crying for the way they walk..most if not all of their dogs  are OFA. So absolutly no pain in that area!!

It looked much more painful for me to see the dog you have posted (german bred not american) with that back..OUCH..do you really think this dog was bred to the standard?

Here we go again (show vs working)..If you don't like them..just don't buy them. After all this is a free country!!

Sorry about that. I have met them twice. Once at the club they attend & once at a show. I am sorry, but I am a new comer to the breed & am very friendly after meeting new people. The 2nd time at the show when I seen them I did say hello.

What I got back was noses to the air response. The dog that I talked about didn't live long after adopted IMO. 6 months.

Not housebroken (lived a kennel life) & had a hard time, to me & the owner, walking. As to oppose his rescue before her.

The GSD before her was a working (straight back) I did not know the pedigree. He got that one at 8 yrs old & kept her until she passed at 14 yrs.

What about one that they sold & was returned to them? Max the last name of the owners were Rigbys from Worcester?

Did they rehibilitate him? Or put him down? They really need to know about the people they place thier dogs with.

I met Max before he was taken by animal control. That family should have never had a dog like that! That was way too much dog for a ninety yr. old blind woman to handle. Nevermind that her son was an abusive drunk & druggie.

Now this boy has impressed me all around!

http://www.nvo.com/glyn/nss-folder/pictures/1Dallas-Herding-Sept2003.jpg

Yes, I've seen him work. Granted it wasn't in Germany but, he was just as awesome as Angela & Collin.

He had no troubles moving the sheep at all. He was always on his toes & really eager to work. Angela & Colin are very friendly & have a wealth of knowledge IMO.

Has Millertime worked thier dogs?

I know it isn't SCH work, but to me it was atleast it was something other than being pretty or painful.

JECK18,I have just paid a visit to your link and web site, your dogs are totally amazing and absolutely correct in every way.I have been reading this thread with much interest and i cannot believe the ignorance of a lot of the posters,i would have to say to every one posting hear look at JECK18'S web and see what a absolutely correct gsd should be.A lot of the exaggerated overlines seen are down to handlers standing styles, that is not an exuse that is fact.Even puppies in stance can be made to look lncorrect,i know this to be true as i have had handlers do this with my own dogs.I know hadlers that could make a labrador look like a gsd in stance it really is not hard to do.so guys the moral of the story is do not judge a dog on one particular picture, this so called roach back is not as common as you seem to think. But going on what i have read all over this data base most of you will not open your eyes to the truth,IMO there are only 2 types of gsd incorrect and correct. I own correct gsds, the dogs on JECK18'S site are correct, the only fault jecks dogs have is i do not own them(i wish). If you want to through all of them in my direction i won't complain,ha!ha!.  liz.

FUNKY

COULDN'T AGREE MORE. I HAVE GERMAN SHOWLINES WITH CORRECT TOPLINE. NOT ROACHED, NOT DIPPY OR SWAYED, BUT CORRECT. I CAN STACK HIM CORRECTLY TO SHOW OFF HIS CORRECT TOPLINE, OR I CAN STACK HIM TO GIVE HIM A ROACH (we enjoy a laugh) OR I CAN REALLY STRETTTTTTTTTTTTTCH HIM AND HE LOOKS SORT OF LIKE AMERICAN SHOWLINES LOL IT IS  WHEN HE IS FREE STANDING NATURALLY THAT HIS CORRECT TOPLINE IS MOST OBVIOUS. ONE THING I CANNOT DO WITH HIM HOWEVER IS------------MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE A SQUARE TABLE TOP BACK LOL

 Yvette,

I know they have been showing a lot and I do think they have put some obedience title on some dogs..not sure tought.

As for Dallas (Grand-dad of some of my girls) he has been a great dog in every way. I know a lot of folks here don't agree but he was a great representative of this wonderful breed..Mind-Soul-and Body. What a real good GSD should be..

See, now I really like the looks of that Maximum vom Trompetersprung. Actually, that's the exact type GSD I'm searching for. It's taking me forever though. I wish there's a way to tell if a young pup will grow up to look just like that. Beautiful dog. Thanks for posting that link.
