4pack

by 4pack on 29 May 2007 - 18:05

I totally agree with MVF. Something need to be done now that this problem has come to light so to speak. If some jackass running form the cops jumps my 6 foot fence and my dogs get shot, I'm going tp be one ticked off chick! Serving a warrent, looking around, isn't important enough to do harm to an animal. Human self deffence should be the only reason to shoot and kill a family pet, LE officer or no.

It's seems frightening to think about my dogs locked up in my yard, gates on both entrences posted, Beware of Dog/Pratrolled by GSD security, pic of dog included for idiots who can't read! Could my dogs be the next innocent victims? Especially the protection trained? Our goal is to breed and train Police/patrole and protection dogs, should I fear the police I intend to help with my dogs, could harm them before they ever have the chance to serve?

Owners need to have a little common sense though too. If you have dogs inside, have a metal/screen door to speak through when you open the door to keep dogs from charging out. Kennel your dogs when you are not outside or at least home with them. Train your dog to heel, shut up, or at least back off if they can be aggressive.

I have been pulled over with my dogs lose in the car. I never gave a thought that an officer might gun my dog or dogs down. Thats something to think about...but do I want to infringe on my dogs right to ride in  the car because some cops are assholes? The dogs I speak of are just pets and wouldn't threaten anybody. Then again what good is a protection dog if he must be locked up, even in your own vehicle? A crated dog isn't going to save your butt.

Dogs should be respected when in/on their own property by anyone and everyone, cops included. If I get pulled over and the LEO lets my dogs out of my vehicle after being well aware dogs are present, he is a self inflicted idiot and deserves to get bit. If he then shoots my dog when he could have left it inside the car, I would be going to jail shortly after. On the other hand, if the dog jumps out the window and lunges for the cops throat, of course I wouldn't hold it against him for protecting himself.

4pack,  You've nailed it exactly !!   We do what we can to keep the dogs safe but fact is they are not safe from an LEO that would wish to shoot first and ask ?'s later,  They are covered or so they think,  and so they don't give two shits,  They can enter your car, your home, your yard, or whatever, whenever the hell they want to so long as they can come up with an excuse for it that would "cover" them in doing so.  Search warrants, Pursuit, traffic stop, knock and talk,  whatever...

AH! The sky is falling!

The sad thing Echo is that it is not "so they think"  they are in fact covered to do whatever they want.  My own opinion is they should hang this guy out to dry.  Two facts. Officer uninjured, dog shot to pieces.  I know why I have an emotional reaction, my own pup was threatened by a Deputy for no reason.  When she was 6 months old there was a drug raid next door to my house and there were police everywhere.  I arrived home in the middle of this with my pup in the car after a 2 hour ride home.  We ALL know what a puppy's priority is after being confined for two hours so I politely asked the nearest sheriff's deputy if I could let her out, on lead, to relieve herself.  I expected one of two answers. 1. Yes, go ahead. 2. No you shouldn't.  What I got was "Sure, but if she comes near me I'll shoot her" from this pompous, bespeckled, pudgy little ass standing on MY property.

Now there's an interesting story, cop threatens to shoot puppy if it comes near him. Yes, the sky is falling, seriously.

Arrgh.  Newbies are annoying.......

by seriously on 31 May 2007 - 19:05

Annoying? Annoying is watching people who claim to be cops jump on a bandwagon and badmouth a fellow officer without knowing his side, and bragging about copping cops to gain favor with the lynchmob.

Look at the New Thread NEW LINK TO HELP MAX Please everyone go there and post your thoughts and encourage them to investigate this issue along with other family pets that have been executed by LEO Whoever posted the link about "precious" the Pit Bull Terrier needs to provide them with that link as well, and write your thoughts on the phenomenon now known as "Family pets are executed if they get in the way of Law Enforcement" as the question... How are we to keep our pets "Safe" if they are not even Safe in our own home, backyard, garage,.... Maybe that's what should go on the poster ??

Just how is a family pet more important than the life and safety of a LEO?  I'm sorry for their loss.  I truly am.  But I think if my son is running through people's yards in pursuit of a felon and he happens upon a dog attacking him that he would shoot the dog rather than be attacked, maimed and possibly killed by said dog.  My son's life is more important than a dogs, especially when he is doing his job.  I pray to God that he never encounters this situation, but if he does I want him coming home in one piece.
