Trailrider,  Thank You for catching that in my absense (sorry today was swamped)...  DAWG  I did address the choke collar in that some dogs slip collars.  Thus making a choke collar a necessity.  ( and I have even seen dogs who figure out how to slip those as well)

I also agree with vomfelsenhof 100%  NONE of us are perfect and it takes making mistakes to learn,  when you were learning to walk,  You fell down until you learned to do it better...  I'm sure you get the idea.

I don't beleive they are looking for a pup, ( I absolutely would have offered them one I am that comfortable with them but timing in my OP was not yet appropriate for such a thing),  Under the condition that a very large kennel be in place for times when they were not at home.   However I don't have the greatest faith in kennels eigther,  some dogs dig, some dogs climb,  SOME PEOPLE POISON DOGS...  There is no ABSOLUTE  to keeping our dogs safe, so 'WE DO WHAT WE CAN"  Same with our kids,  There are NO Absolutes so we do what we can,  we teach them we attempt to keep them home at night,  we do everything in our power, and SOMETIMES IT'S JUST NOT ENOUGH NO MATTER WHAT WE DO,  SOMETIMES WE STILL LOOSE THEM !!!!

I beleive that a strayed female GSD who had recently weaned a litter of pups,  has wondered into the Mattia's home after days of feeding and talking to her she finally followed them to they're house,  We'll see what happens with this situation,  They are feeling she was "dumped" they had advertised her as FOUND and still no response,  Sharon reports her as very sweet,  and they are fast falling for her,  Maybe GOD has a plan that superseeds the rest of us and saves our judgements........

You mean to tell me that dogs are not humans that walk on 4 legs???  OMG...I'm shocked.  No wonder my 1st husband got upset when HE TOLD me I had to choose between him and my dogs, and he became an EX within 9 months....no wonder my 2nd husband got upset when he told my old female (who was there long before him) to get off my bed and HE SLEPT on the couch that night!  I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself....you mess with my children or my dogs (and yes, in that order) then I hand you a shovel and ask where you want to be buried.  These animals did not ASK to be put on this earth, so IT IS our responsiblity to take care of them.  I'm not saying that I don't feel bad for the children out there that are starving or have no place to call home....been there, done that....McDonalds is always hiring somewhere! (that's for their parents, of course)!  I ALWAYS make sure that my children (2 and 4 legged) have a roof over their head, food in the belly, and know they are loved by me, no matter what!  I always say, "Men are a dime a dozen...A GOOD DOG IS HARD TO FIND."  Yes, I'm single AND LOVIN IT!  The one thing that will never leave my house is the sign hanging over my door.... "May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am"!

I guess my point was to keep it in perspective, since you don't know what happened or if the dog was even well cared for. I am a dog lover and spend more money on my dogs than on myself but that doesn't mean I know what happened there and well not pretend to.

But I guess only you are allowed to have an opinion on here sueincc. My mistake I thought this was a forum for discussion. And I don't believe I told you where to go! I could if you would like.

Why don't we first DEFINE "Max's cause"?

by Uglydog on 30 May 2007 - 13:05

Granted there are more important issues in the world than a dead dog.

But this touches many of us. The dog Max, Was Executed..in cold blood by a sadisitic rogue cop.

Cop had many option..neighbors, SCPA, Tazer, front door, call to his station..he chose none wxcept the wrong one and unloaded a 7 shot gun on the dog when a simple head shot wouldve done. Ive killed many game animals, this is that difficult to do at a tied dog.

I hope he is fired, fined & working security detail at Wal Mart soon.

Oh it is for discussion MNSIB, and your absurd suggestion that I don't think anyone else should have an opinion is another example of you trying to put words in my mouth.  Anyone who has read my posts knows that your claim is bullshit.  Your previous post was not an opinion it was a judgement.  I didn't tell you to leave I told you if you were so bothered by this discussion you could leave.  Let me be perfectly clear,  "don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out".  I don't know if your last sentence was some sort of veiled threat, but if it is bring it on you sanctimonious jerk.  Coming from you it would be meaningless.

Echo doesn't life work in mysterious way! Let us know if you hear more about the stray female they "may" have adopted. I am still willing to put in some if they would like to get a kennel or make a small run off their porch.

Also has anyone heard what is going on in the investigation of C Long?

Just for the record, if the above was directed at my posts, I never said I had never made a mistake. I never said these people should never have another dog. I have only said they shouldn't be given another dog until they educated themselves on the hazards of tieng with a choke. My point has been, from the start, that it would be a good idea to give a donation to the local animal shelter in Max's name. This based on the facts I have stated above. Yes, we've all made mistakes. I was simply making the point that I didn't believe the next mistake shouldn't be facilitated by giving them another dog without knowing more. I never said I didn't care that they were in pain. Reread the earlier posts. I never said I didn't want to make a gesture of a gift. I did offer toward it. Just not a dog unless we are sure of it's welfare.  The issue for me has never been the tieout but the choke at the end of it.

And I believe we should take care of the children and the animals.

I'm done.
