All I have to say to you is that a dog does not have to prove he will protect you to do so.  I grew up with a gsd that had ZERO training and she took a bullet in the throat as she was attacking an invader.  She was just a family dog given lots of love but she knew her pack was being threatened - more than likely the knowledge came from the adrenaline from the perp.

A travesty is our country being at war, and American service men dying. Being filmed at a Sch club, and embarrassed because your dog was what 99% of all normal dogs are, Just that, normal.... is not a travesty.

If I had to use the term "travesty" everytime that my dog embarrassed me, or did not live up to the Walt Disney hype, I would have had a breakdown long long ago.

Jeff:  This thread is not about filming her dog or agar at all.....it is about the way schutzhund clubs are having a real problem keeping alive in usa.    The attitude of the members to new people is  not that which most people will hang around and put up with...Flip addresses lots of issues and at the very top of those issues is the communicating of club members with the new owner and the  head of the club to that new owner....Many people have voiced their disatifaction with Schutzhund and the way the clubs are run and how they treat you went you visit the club and how many ugly remarks are made to you and about. you...That is a traversity when the club and USA Schutzhund is having a problem keeping the interest up and starting new clubs and keeping members., all across the country..

The new AWDF, whose president is AL Govednik, is addressing some of these issues with efforts of good communication, commiting to create a stronger , better informed, smoother running organization. Good communication using emails, phone calls, conference calls and all means necessary to solve any problem or issue before it gets out of hand.  If club members stay focused on  task at hand , and address a level of respect for each of the individuals will rise, to the level that all can work thru the problems with ones dog . Short cuts, and quick fixes generally are not the best cure for a problem. and AL believes  the message and thouht process that they have used is getting passed along to the membership and the members like what they are doing....They have opened some new ideas in ring and other training methods, and the SAR new titleling.   Sounds interesting... The new AWDF is working dogs and working people......no matter what the breed...His wife put the first RH1

There are always politics in dog training clubs no matter how hard you try.  I think that if more people were more open with what dogs REALLY are capable of, and stay away from the myth, we could get on a lot better overall.

One of the things that I am seeing more than anything else is here on the internet. I am addressing an issue, and what I am saying is taken so completely out of context, I end up going back to see just what the hell I wrote. I see so many "PC" answers to peoples questions about their dogs it is just painful to hear anymore. There is so much ego put into "new" peoples dogs that how are they supposed to pass on information?? The bar just keeps lowering.

I, for example wish that I had a video camera on my dog everytime that I trained. I am almost positive, that my dogs would have done pretty much what that dog did, and honestly, I would keep the video if I was Agar, just as a learning tool. If Agar want the dog to actually work in a different manner, that tape is really helpful to show a decoy/trainer where to start.

So that is what I was saying. I know that it was upsetting on a couple of different levels, but this type of tape teaches us all manner of things. Good or bad, we learn from this, it is what we do with the information afterward that counts. I wish that I had tape of all the times I was a walking clusterfuck on the training/trial field. I would post them for sure, as THAT is where the learning curve starts getting shallower. : )

Wow!  Agar!  Stay FAR From this guy!  you are very smart to see thru the crap!   A bunch of us have been down that road with this guy already, and it is very tiring to see him out Doing the Same Thing To Others! 

Aimee - Sorry, but only with Tim Helser will you see a dog measured in "fractions".....  does he have some magical calibration tool or ruler with which to make said percentages?  I would be very Wary of this guy.  you will find your tail between your legs soon enough when you find you've been had!  You have said you are new to SchH, but here you are trying to make a huge speech about stuff that guy doesn't even know about!  Don't you know he does not train police dogs!  He's a felon!  If you don't beleive me, look it up!  Google his name!  And don't believe his excuses!  He will screw up your dog!  Trust ME!
