Sieger show in Canada - Page 2

From first hand experience, I can with a very high degree of confidence, say  that some large dogs were not penalized with the stick measurement while other dogs got nailed.  (and I mean that visibly larger dogs were sometimes not getting nailed)  I too would like to know why.  It was very very disappointing and hope that this is not the way things are usually done. 

Isn't the same judge also judging this years' NASS?

My "Texans" will not be competing in show, but I have high hopes for future progeny!  Will you be in St. Louis? I will go and help some friends and watch like last year.

Yes, our monthly sessions are a lot of work, but well worth it! Our training helper is SUPER, and we all have a great time. We are working on brining him out twice a month starting in September, so we are very excited about that-

REGARDING THE CANADIAN SIEGER SHOW-

Disclaimer- I was not at this show, so I can't speak first hand- however, pertaining to the height standard- It was my understanding that if the dogs were measured high, the handlers were given the option to stay in the ring and be placed at the back, or they could opt to just be excused and not show. That may explain why some remained in the ring and some didn't-

As for the bitwork, if the dog bit something other than the sleeve, I "thought" that was disqualifying, but I could very well be mistaken. I guess it could be a matter of judges discression- was it just a bite from excitement, or was it a full bite?

I am not commenting on anything which happened at the show since I was not there.

But I know first hand that all conformation judges have standing orders to measure all dogs 12 months and older, including the dogs which are already surveyed.

Dogs which are not surveyed are excused and dogs which are surveyed "within the range" have protection (Bestandschutz in German), which means that the owners have the option to excuse themselves from the ring without penalties or the dog will be placed at the end of his designated rating.

People need to realize that the SV is really serious now in cracking down on oversize, and it is not just talk anymore. We have an "upper size range" dog at home and I have known for a while that I could never show him again. We were already told in fall of 2005.
