I don't trust pits, and I'll give you the step-by-step logic behind my opinion.
1) These dogs are bred to be dog aggressive.
2) Dog aggression can become human aggression in the blink of an eye.
It's that simple.
The vet who treated my first GSD for pannus said they reminded him of the bears he used to deal with in the zoo. One moment they were nice and friendly and gentle, the next moment, a switch would flip, and they'd go berserk. A couple of minutes later, they'd be back to nice and gentle, but somebody would be dead or seriously injured.
Breeding will out every time. I'm dog-sitting a foxhound right now. She follows her nose everywhere, sticks it into every crevice and hole in the backyard, in case a varmit might be there, while my two Shepherds are more interested in playing ball with me. I expect nothing different from her, because she's a HOUND. Same with the pit bull. They are bred for aggression, not sweet, gentle natures. If I want a dog that's good with kids, I'lll get a golden or a lab, or a well-bred GSD.

So if Pit Bulls have the same bite pressure as any other large breed, why are some Pit breeders advertising their stud's high bite pressure as a selling point? "Mammoth power! 3,300 psi!" That was an ad in "Dog Fancy" magazine, with the AKC pet crowd as their target audience.
