Bob-O

by Bob-O on 05 October 2007 - 03:10

Shelley and others, thank you very much. Bob's no expert on an, but I am always will to share what little I know and the other times I am reading and paying attention. I'm very employed these days and seldom post, although I do read the comments here on a nightly basis. By the way-where's our buddy Preston? I have not heard from him in a long time here.

Shelley, I enjoy your posts-a lifetime of experience, a love of the breed that few have, and a humour that is borderline wicked sometimes. Gotta love it. Some of my other favourites? Jonah (JDH) OldLineRebel, D.H., S.G.B.H., and of course the occassional post by Sharyn (Hodie).

Best Regards,

Bob-O

Howdy,

thanks for mentioning my name, Do right. I rather look at the topics, when I choose to look at a thread. But I have to admit that there are certain posters I definately will look at, such as Bob-O, ( hope everything is fine with you, nice to read something from you again), D.H., Shelly, Blitzen.

It is nice to see, that there are peopel out there that are willing to share their knowledge. On thge opposit, I have to say that lately the bashing and smiring on here was quite anoying, which kept me away from posting. Amazing, how a informative post can be taken apart.

I wish all of you a very nice weekend.

Bob-O, I'm afraid Preston has gone the same way as Hodie has. The last few tiimes he did post he was called names and told he was stupid and didn't know what he was talking about. It was very embarassing for him to be put down by some who haven't been alive as long as Preston has owned GSD's.

Hi Ulli, how did the Winner litter turn out? I wish I could have bought that male you advertised on here. He was my kind of dog. Blitz insists on being an only child .

I forgot to mention Ulli, whose posts are well above the bar, informative and clearly based on long experience. I like the fact that Ulli can provide a different  but accurate perspective on nearly any topic worth discussing here. Ditto for DH,also stimulating and well-informed.  I look forward to meeting both characters some day.

Glad some of you appreciate mysomewhat bent menopausal sense of humor. I don't know what gets into me sometimes. Maybe its the curry-infused Shani Paneer I eat for breakfast 2-3 days a week... or the leftover chicken mole and chili rellenos... or the artichoke hearts sauteed in butter and garlic with swiss cheese melted over the top. Perhaps ther IS something to that old addage about starting the day off right?

Keep up the good work guys, and don't forget the song parodies for the holidays!

Howdy Blitzen,

The Winner litter was my best litter sofar, actually I still have 2 females out of that litter. Had their prelimps done yesterday & everything is fine & dandy ! Thank God, I always get soft knees on the way to my Vet...... One of the 2 will get sold, and the other one I intend to get her into my breedings.......... long ways to go !

Oh, you mean Ben, his Sire was Karat's Ulk. He is with a family, where the wife has a severe diability due to numerous strokes. She is in a wheelchair, Ben has never ever seen a wheelchair. When they met for the first time Ben imediatly was at the side of that chair, laying his head into the lap of the lady ! I tried to call him, he would come , but very reluctant ! Wild stuff ! When the time came to cash the sale price, I was nearby crying & thinking to just give Ben to them for free ! We did talk about it, and I was very close to do so, but they insisted on paying me ! Truly wild stuff !!

Looking forward for my next litter, sired by Astana Alfons.

Tell Blitz to get over it !!

SchHBabe

Another point that is critical to me is character.

Unfortunately, there are some people in the dog world that are extremely knowledgeable, well accomplished, easy talkers, have a groupie of adoring fans, and yet their behavior completely turns me off.

For me, the manner of doing business is just as important or more so, than just the outcome.

Here's an illustration... a friend of mine from my old SchH club down south got a puppy from a big name importer and breeder.  This guy has bred many quality litters and imported God knows how many excellent dogs.  His "fan club" list is about a mile long.  However, when my friend's puppy turned out dysplastic at his 7 month prelims, this smooth-talking profressional turned into a jerk.  My friend had to fight with him again and again to get him to honor his replacement guarantee.  Once she got her replacement puppy after 14 months, the puppy had only one testicle and a eye problem that required surgery to correct.

My friend tried to post her words of protest on another internet forum and she got totally slammed by all this guy's buddies.  I'm sure these were well-meaning folks who were happy customers and thought they were doing their good buddy a fine service, but none of them knew the facts.

Over the years I've seen a few more raw deals that this guy has brokered, and it's always newbies who get shafted, people with no established reputation like his and therefore no credibility when they complain.  Sad thing is, I've met people who are aware of these tactics, and still choose to give him their business, because he does have good dogs, and has produced nice litters, and has imported many fine dogs.

I wish more people would take a stand against crap like this, but that's just my own personal Code of Conduct, and everyone must choose their own ethics.

Abhay - you are the grabber not the grabee :p

by Blitzen on 05 October 2007 - 14:10

Yvette, may I add to your list of those lacking character the big name wealthy breeders who allow their dogs to go to rescue. I'm sure if I'd mention the names, I'd be a lot of trouble, but no need, most know who they are.  It seems they have their entourage of followers too.

A few days ago one such GSD female died after years of neglect and then spending time in a rescue before being re-homed by a few caring GSD people. Sadly, she only lived the good life for 2 years after finding her forever home; she was only 8 years of age when she died maybe due to the poor life she had for her first 6.  These are the things I can't get out of my mind at night time.
