Louise has forgotten more about this breed than most of us will ever know, SW. She's not one to toot her own horn, so I doubt you will hear much from her about herself as a result of your challenge, so I'll just say a few things in her behalf. She's owned GSD's for around 40 years, had some of the top winning AKC dogs, one of her AKC dogs is pictured on the cover of a very well known GSD breed book. I've been begging her for years to write an article about the evolution of the GSD in the US. When the AKC dogs took a turn for the worst, Louise looked to the imports and the rest is history.
I have had the pleasure of spending time with her Ursus son, Nemo, he is an incredible dog. If I were breeding, he would be the type of dog I would strive to produce, beauty and brains, the golden middle. I love him. I never met her heart dog, Lex, but have seen photos of Louise and him together and there was never any question that they were one in spirit. When he died, he took a part of Louise's heart with him.
In the dog world modesty is a virtue and keeping one's personal life off the internet is probably not a dumb idea. Just because some choose to not participate in this thread does not mean they are snobs or assholes. It only means that they are not into making small talk and would rather spend what little free time they have in serious discussions about dogs in general and the breed specifically.
Hodie is also one of those rare people who keeps a low profile while working 24/7 to protect this breed and to do what she can to give forever homes to unwanted GSD's. I have no clue how many GSD's she has saved over the years but I do know that I envy her tremendously for going that. I am pleased to call both of these fine women my friends as well as a few others who I have met on this board. Unfortunately Hodie and I have never met face-to-face, but somehow seeing photos of her and the way she looks at her dogs tells me that she walks the walk and is the real deal. The eyes are the windows to the soul you know.

Ditto GoldenElk, Blitzen thanks for giving some insight to these 2 women, whom when they post, I always read as the wisdom they bring to the board is very quickly apparent to a newbie like me. Hope to have the honor of meeting many of you one day.

I had to say something really nice about them since they both sent me a big, fat check . I think there are many here who find it uncomfortable to talk about themselves, their goals, their accomplishments in the dog world. They are the unsung heros of the breed.

Hi, my name is Pam, I live in Minneapolis Mn, 54 years old, married, no children and first time gsd owner. I've only posted a few times here, mainly just listen & learn. My girl's name is Lucille the real deal (lucy). I'd also like to add that I appreciate the advise & opinions that some of you posted back to me when I've had questions. Right now this site has saved my hiney (a - - ) more times than i can count, very good information here, and many great looking dogs.

Sorry, gal, your check was insufficient. Remember that I have some incriminating photos of you being unduly familiar with a certain male dog!!!
Seriously, folks, if you wish to post photos of your beloved critters every time they attend to their bodily functions, take time to create a "gallery" for your dogs. When you wish to make frequent references to your dog, use the "comments" feature you discuss the dog or announce additional photos to his gallery. This gives a permanence and continuity to you dog's record that is not misplaced in the archives going back months and years.
On his welcome page, this is what Oli has as a mission statement of the PDB:
The aim of pedigreedatabase is to be a tool for breeders. Hopefully we manage that and in doing so create a professional hub for people to get information about their favorite breed.
To me, these words stand out: "aim", "tool", "breeders", "professional", and "information". I surely don't see anything about creating a "social hub". Do you?
Repeated and deliberate failure to to honor Oli's "mission" amounts to an insult to him and to his hard work.
