hi my dog had a very good routine. she had puppy chow in the morning, meat in the afternoon and milk at night. this diet suited her. but then a friend of mine told me not to give her purina puppy chow so i stopped giving it to her. i bought happy junior croq which i heard was a good puppy food. she had it  the first day but stopped eating it the next day. she does not want to eat in the morning. she has her meat in the afternoon, which she loves and also has her milk at night. i dont know what to do????? is this a food related problem??? help will be much appreciated. she is up to date with her shots. she is also very active.

I assume you did not mix the new food with the old and eventually started feeding less and less of the old food til all she was getting was the happy junior?  I never heard of happy junior but puppy chow is garbage so anything has to be better than that. lol  It could be that she just isn't liking the change and if you're feeding the meat in the afternoon she's really not gonna try to like the kibble at all since she will always prefer the meat.

How old is the pup?  Wondered why you are feeding milk at night?  Never heard of feeding milk to a pup unless they were very young and needed it but perhaps I just never had anyone suggest it to me.  Anyways, if it were me in this situation I'd cut the meat portion in the afternoon in half and mix it with the kibble so she will want to eat it.  When you see her starting to eat it start cutting back the meat more each day in the morning until you are only feeding the kibble.  I myself feed solid gold for my pup.  He's now on the adult form since he's almost a year but I do not feed meat in addition to the kibble.  It's usually one or the other.  It doesn't sound like your pup is sick and I doubt it's a food related problem.  Just your pup letting you know that this is something she's not used to tasting and prefers to pass on breakfast since she knows there will be something better in the afternoon for lunch. lol

sudden changes in feeding can cause problems.  I dunno bout the milk thing either, how olds the dog?

And I have learned some dogfood just doesn't please my dogs. I have considered tasting it to see what it tastes like .

But naaaaaaaa.  If my dog doesn't like it thats good enough for me...:]

No milk after 4 weeks old     I put dry powdered milk on the dry dog food for a week or so after they are weaned    like till 5- 6 weeks old for the potassium......Milk causes all kinds of problems......

I thought the other night  when we had a thread about dog foods again and the corn in them,,,  I wonder if I could just feed my dogs a bowl of    Special K  with a cup of evaporated milk on it and      I eat a bowl every day   and I know people who live on cereal    they eat about 6 different kinds with fruits on themm   and they are healthy....

Special K is rice.....jUST A PASSING THOUGTH  , GUYS  .....I ANALIZE EVERYTHING  I DO , AND I WAS JUST READING THE BACK OF THE BOX AND THAT THOUGHT   RAN THRU MY MIND...........

AristianM,

I would go back to your original feeding and if you decide to change food do so slowly a little at a a time.

I dont use purina alot but its not crap. I dont think the milks a good idea either.

I use a locally made dogfood and have for many years. after all the recalls I dont even trust what I buy for myself these days..GGggrrrrr.

If you feel you need to add real meat or fish or even a farm fresh egg, I do often.

If she's off her feed for a day or two she wont die.  Just give things a little time.

Id add a little fresh ground   hamburger, just a tablespoon full   and mix it in....then in a week  ad  a little slice of raw liver ,,,cut it up and mix it in....just a small piece.....fix you about  8 baggies with a piece of hamburger and a piece of liver for a weeks supply and thaw each morning in refrig...and when you feed the night meal  just mix it in dry food....no milk   save that for you on your cereal....

Throw  a couple of raw eggs, preferrably yard eggs , if ou can get them   ,  in once in a while....
