Kalibeck

by Kalibeck on 19 November 2007 - 16:11

When I lived out west we would go up to the mountains to get our 'fall' or 'winter', the change in seasons was one of the things I missed the most about the east. I was supposed to work this T-day, but while the shoulder is still repairing, I'm  free to celebrate the holiday! My most sincere Thanks goes out to all those who work through the Holidays to keep our society going, Nurses, Doctors(some), EMTs, Police, our Troops, at home & overseas, and All who sacrifice their sacred times with Family in service of others....to you we owe our greatest & most humble THANKSGIVING! jackie harris

Yes I do miss fall. That is the best time of year. Snow every once in a while is nice too. I will have to take my LH to the snow I know he will go crazy over it as he loves water in any shape or form.

Did I type TRUKEY dinner? Oh you know what I meant LOL.

I'll have to jump on the bandwagon with Jackie (Kalibeck), thanks to those of you who work to see that our holiday is safer!

Sparrow,

Your post took me back to childhood Thanksgivings with relatives and that "warm and cozy" feeling.  Wow, how I miss my family this time of year.  There are 6 of us (siblings) and my Mom left and we are spread out from the West Coast of California and Nevada to the midwest of Illinois and Iowa to the East Coast of Connecticut and Virginia.

You all reminded me,

Yes, a big Special Thanks to those who serve our country away from home and family at this and every other time of year.  Your sacrifices are much appreciated and our hearts and prayers are with you.

We are heading to my parents for Turkey Day, just a short 45 minute drive.

I have a nice 5 minute drive to the In-laws.  Nobody can beat that!  Pretty much at home without the mess.  Gotta love that!

kailibeck, I agree completely!  Thanks to all that keep us safe at home and abroad.

I feel for you gsdfanatic1964, even though the leaves and smells are familiar and I thankfully have both of my parents, all of the other relatives are long gone.  We had 3 great aunts who dined with us along with grandparents, our parents and my 3 siblings.  My parents also moved from my childhood home last year, I walked through the house when it was empty and heard so many voices echoed off of those walls, voices I'll never hear again and miss terribly.  But, this is a time to be thankful and I am, I still have my parents and only one sibling, my oldest sister, is out of state (New Jersey) but still within driving distance.  I have my daughters, my husband, my granddaughter and last but not least my dogs.  We're just making NEW warm fuzzy memories only now I'm one of the old relatives LOL.

I'm spending Thanksgiving on a plane for 6 hours and then a 3 1/2 hour drive back home with son.  Guess no turkey for us   Spent the last couple weeks at our condo in Michigan and now heading home to sunny FL and one of my dogs.  My girl just had a puppy on Oct. 30 so she's still living at the breeders.  Miss her like crazy.
