My 14 month old pup likes to shake himself like he just got out of the water. He probably does this more than 10 times a day. I can't seem to figure it out. What could this be about?

Kaiser,
he is shaking himself....pure and simple. Don't be seeing problems where there are none. All dogs do these things. They also stretch. If he is not ill, scratching like hell, having skin issues, other health issues, be amused and enjoy him.

How long has he been doing it and is it after he is jest let out of a cage or laying on a specific matt or rug?

He's been doing it a while now. He does do it after he gets up from laying down.

totally natural,, just like a person who wakes up from a nap and stretches.

I'd check for ear or skin issues. However, if he's not scratching as well as shaking, probalby nothing to worry about!

He's completely fine. Many dogs shake off after they stand up, it helps blood circulate thru their body after they've been lying down for a while.

it can also be a displacement behaviour - depends on the context
