I'm curious if the appetite increases in a bitch in heat?  I feed my bitch the same amount of food every day and she even often times doesn't eat it all but I noticed these last couple days when she comes it her nose is up sniffing my stove and countertops.  I've fed her a little more since she was letting me know she was hungry but I thought it's odd for her to have a change in appetite.  I wondered if it's because she's outside in the kennel and the colder weather is boosting her appetite or if it has something to do with her being in season??

Colder weather and being outside means she is burning a lot more than she would if it was 60degrees outside ...... same goes for an increase in activity

Hormonal changes may also cause a change in appetite.........as can diseases and medication....

It is good for dogs to be a little hungry, what is important is that they are in good body condition and weight.. not necessarily whether you think they are "full" or not......

My bitch just had her first heat, and YES there was quite an increase in her appetite while she was in heat! I guess it's nature's way of making sure the pups get a good start in life.

Cold weather will do it too. I've noticed my dogs always want to eat more as winter is approaching.

Thanks everyone.  Overall her weight is fine, not loosing or gaining and I see nothing to concern me that she is sick so I'm thinking it's just contributed to the cold and her cycle.  Today I think I'm gonna keep her inside because it is getting a bit cold out there.  Trouble is she likes it to be outside and really isn't much for a "house dog".  My boy prefers to be inside where it's nice and toastie. lol

A female's appetite can increase when she comes into heat from her instinct of preparing for a litter, however, if she is outside and it is cold out the appetite increases as they burn extra fuel to keep warm.
