I have seen a number of DDR/West German crosses - all through Manto Kahlenbach as the grandsire.  I also own one myself.

My female is really really nice - she was slow to mature, but now that she's two years old it's really starting to click.  She is very very biddable, is a very happy worker, very hard bite, and is super agile.  She is not soft at all - more on the hard side, although not too extreme, but she loves to please so very hard corrections usually aren't needed.  But if they are, it doesn't phase her at all.  She has very good prey drive but also a lot of aggression.  None towards me fortunately!  She is very safe around people, I can take her anywhere and anyone can come up and pet her, and I don't worry about a thing.  But if she is threatened she will not back down.  You can look up her pedigree, her name is Kessy vom Waldwinkel.  I really think that the cross worked very very well in this case.  There is very little I would change about her!

The other Manto grandkids I've seen (at least a dozen) have been very tough dogs.  Handler aggressive, and they see everyone as a threat.  Very extreme drive, and need very experienced handlers or someone's going to get hurt...either the owner or someone else!

I know Manto is only one example of a DDR dog, but his blood seems very potent!

This one may not be heavily known, but he's still an example of a straight 50/50 split of WGR working/DDR :
V Arko vom Finsterengrund SchH2 KKL1A a2 http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/385877.html
He's a nice big sable Hungarian male out of west German sire Castor and East German DDR dam Fanny. He was told to us to be very dominant and strong in temperament and drive, yet clear headed. I own a black daughter of his out of a WGR working/DDR/Czech border patrol lines dam, and our girl is a piece of work(Anni)-she can go and go pulling, tugging, and romping. She is currently only 16wks old so no titling yet, but we did have one gentleman who frequents his schutzhund club play with her, romping and checking out her drives and said that she has more impressive drive and spunk than he's seen out of most older females. We hope to do Anni justice.

We also own a very promising young blk/red bitch with a real dark face who is also currently a 5 mos old juvenile, and she is from a 100% show line Vice Sieger sire (2xSGR VA1 Larus Batu son) and a working line V4 mother(Chuna Policia, Titus, etc lines in mom). Her name is Buszke(Beska), and she's not afraid of anything. Since you asked to see working/show pedigree combo, I didn't think it would hurt to show: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/532420.html
This is another promising girl whom we hope to do justice in training and titling. I find her breeding most intriguing.

I think maybe you were wanting to see info about proven TITLED dogs(which Arko is), but I threw in the additional info because its not every day you see show/working cross like my Buszke.

Here is the pedigree of a bitch that I use to own. She could hold her own with most males in phase C.
