Say what?      I thought you did a fine job trying to get Amelia home.  Didn't bash one bit.   Not a bash here, I just didn't see the validity of posting a dog from over 30 years ago that was bred and born in Germany, had his hip ratings done in Germany, then imported as an example of a Champion American Shepherd.  I liked the dog you posted, I even said he was a nice looking dog.  Too bad the Amercian Shepherd Champions don't still look like him.

But whatever.......     And I don't have horses.    I have mules.  Mules are MUCH smarter and not at all stubborn.

It never ceases to amazes me how you guys complain about the lack of working ability in the American show lines when the west German show lines are in the danger of losing all working expects. Why don't we take a look at what was performed at this years USA sieger show. Let's do a refreshments shall we?

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/EnforcetheRules/index.html
Lets view these videos again from top to bottom.

Some of these dogs are supposedly world class SCHUTZHUND 3 TITLED who's puppies are valued over 3k and yet they're soooooo sloppy on the bitework (chewing and grinding, not outting on command, etc) and often have no motivation not to mention a total nerve bags who can't even take the pressure from stick hits.

Seeing this kind of performance at the sieger show is an embarrassment to Schutzhund. They have the audacity to call label these dogs the workingclass. I often have to search for some BSP videos to see what Schutzhund is suppose to be.

Kalle vom Welzbachtal is more of a dog then some of these “pretty” dogs and they're not half of what Kalle is and guess what? Kalle vom Welzbachtal is a WUSV Real Schutzhund titled LONGCOAT (Oh no! Thats a serious fault in the conformation world, OH MY GOD! Why didn't they neuter this dog!?!?!) who's considered more breedable than most of these VA labeled dogs. I bet they couldn't perform even close to what Kalle had done.

When people talk about the standards I can't help but to only see the conformation aspects being discussed, not the temperament and working drives, just conformation.

Oh my goodness... there goes my workingline blood.

I better end this before I get my fair share of bashing

Yo, Barb...maybe you've been getting too close to the xray machine.

It's "pedigreedatabase" and the subforum is German Shepherds.

Until Oli splits the forum into American Shepherds, Showline Shepherds, Working Shepherds, Panda Shepherds, DDR Shepherds, Czech Shepherds, West German Shepherds, TigerEagleMouse Shepherds, Hockwalker Shepherds, you and I get to share the same forum...my working lines and your shepherds, along with all the working lines around. Sounds like a little diversity...:)  More than can be expected from some places...

I  AGREE BRITTANY. SOMETIMES YOU WONDER WE'RE THEY GOT THEIR TITLES.

IN MY LAST LITTER..I KEPT TWO BEAUTIFULS BITCHS..BOTH LONG COATS.  I DO NOT BREED TO GET LONG COATS BUT THEIR STRUCTURES IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE COAT LENGH. SINCE IT IS A RECESSIVE GENE YOU NEED BOTH PARENTS TO BE CARRIER TO GIVE IT..WE SHOULDN'T DISREGUARD AN EXCELLENT DOG BECAUSE OF COAT HAS  IT IS EASY TO FIX.

WHEN WE TALK STANDARD WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT ALL THAT IS WRITTEN..AND HAS I REMEMBER THERE IS A BIG PART ON TEMPERAMENT. BUT ALSO THEIR IS A BIG PART ON STRUCTURE.

Brittnay:  Yes, the work displayed by some of the working class males in the San Jose SS was sub-par and shocking,   the point is people WERE alarmed by what they saw and more than a few cages were rattled.  Take a look at what is going on in Germany, they are taking steps to better the working ability in the showlines by making special mention of the best workers at the SS.  Is that enough for me, no but it's a start.    Don't you understand the American Line dogs don't HAVE to display ANY ability to do ANYTHING other than trot because nobody gives a shit about anything but that stupid flying trot. Which by the way is such an exagerated gait it's good for nothing, but they don't care because they think it's so flashy.   Don't you get that they don't WANT a true GSD temperment because it's "too hard" for them.  This breed is a working dog first and foremost, it was never supposed to be just a dumb contestant in a beauty pagent.

So what, the whole rest of the world is wrong, you know something more than everyone else in the world?  What do you tell yourselves when you find the rest of the world laughing at you and your dogs?  Come on, get real, just change the name of your breed and leave the real GSDs to the rest of us.

Sueincc, you took the worlds right out of my mouth. There is a reason American showline dogs are not accepted anywhere else in the world except maybe Canada.

A German dog that can't work is every bit as useless as an American one that can't work, so please, Brittany, take your drivel elsewhere. Are any of the posters on this thread owners of dog that performed poorly at the USA SS? Aren't these the same people who were equally disgusted by the videos? You are really barking up the wrong tree.

I have no use whatsoever for ANY dog that can't work, if you think the American lines don't have the highest ratio that fit this bill you are kidding yourself.

I challenge you US fanciers to find me 10 current American showline dogs, for at least 3 generations, who have an AKC championship and a schutzhund title.  Hell, find me 1! I can pull up hundreds of European dogs with V ratings and working titles.  Find me some real "working" "ASS"s , as sue so succintly puts it, then tell me how many hours of research it took you to do it.
