Can anyone tell me what this means?

by Mike Russell on 10 December 2004 - 05:12

Brevet is the introductory French Ring title. A brief synopsis... To obtain the Brevet he dog must complete the following exercises: Heel on leash Refusal of Food Heel off leash Down/stay Defense of handler with gunfire Face (frontal) Attack General Outlook (attitude of dog/handler team)

I am not positive, but I think the word means a diploma or title

by ALPHAPUP on 10 December 2004 - 05:12

i would like to add : all ring exercises are done off leash without any collar . !! [except the one heal on leash ]. the down stay is with handler out of sight . in the defense of handler the dog must greet with ahndler the agitator and sit calmly , then proceed to , usually a backwards walk / escort and attack without command once the agitator attacks the .handler .. therafter there are three escape s and apprehension by the dog . the dog is outed from a distance and recalle to heel by the handler .without a full description .. a brevet , introduction [ simialr to the BH in schutzhund ] it's a lot more damanding on the dog .. my personal feeling is that is is more than equivalent to a schutzhund 3 level .

These are training titles in use in France & Italy. They are not exclusive to French Ring Sport.

Thank you for the definition. Are these titles accepted as the equivalent of SchH titles?
