Hi just to let everyone know that I received an email from karl Moser informing me that all Nero progeny will be excluded from the SV ban if hip and elbows are xrayed and scored. which is good news for all involved

Yes, I also heard that. And that is very good news for us who have this wonderful and healthy progeny after Nero. But I must really say I question the SV and the way they have handled this case. It must be a big defeat for them, making a new decision again. Lets hope this case is closed forever, and that the beautiful offspring now can be shown, breeding and so on.

Have I got it all wrong or was not Nero the one that had a sibling (brother) with the same tatoo number? My opinion is short and clear - is it wise to let Nero's offspring in to the breeding when their father have a disorder that should have held him out of breeding? Strange but true: - when a dog is "officialy" not good then everyone is defending him / her. But when "nothing" is wrong then everyone tries to put him / her down. If the second generation after Nero have problems with their AA/AD/elbows - will everyone still say that SV "had it all wrong".? Please try to remember the aspect of genetics.

In my opinion it IS wise to allow this line to continue. The dog was stunning, his progeny of top quality. I have seen lines suddenly produce problems like this before, and never produce them again. As long as owners/ breeders are diligent in their screening and breeding in future there will hopefully be no further problems. Time will tell perhaps, but to ban all progeny, from top quality females, reputable breeders, well reared, healthy beautiful dogs, would have been a terrible shame. People have done worse to the breed before - singlehandedly and others probably without us ever knowing. Those who wish to avoid the line can do so - but while we shout about 'genetics' lets check our knowledge, check fact, and remember too the 'exact' science of coincidence and genetic mutation'
