News has come from Germany, that the beautiful 2 time VA 3 Erasmus van Noort was put to sleep the week prior to the Bundessiegerzuchtshau. Our deepest sympathy goes to the owners of this wonderful dog whom they loved dearly. It is a priviledge to be able to own a granddaughter and 2 grandsons of Erasmus.

Yes he was sorta young and I am only curious to know what kind of age related problem's he had.

Maybe those with dog's from his line might also be curious.

Fine looking animal.

It is sad to lose a friend.

Its sad but some dogs really age badly, by friends bullmastiff for an example is 6 and really feeling the got age, luckily no disease for now but who know.

Bigger dogs tend to have shorter life span. Even in GSD there is a good variation based on the size of the dog, the bigger the dog, the shorter the life span and vice versa.

Some may think that I am talking rubbish but I have seen some GSD on the smaller frame live till they are over 10. On average 8 seems to a roundish figure for old age. With care & medival treatment they could live longer but then again its on the policies of the owners.
