I am looking for co-ownership agreements with trainers who co-own working dogs. I would like to find out what the "standard" is. It is a puppy, and will be a working dog at 1 year. Looking for the details from now until 1 year, and what is common. Thanks Jeff Turner K9 Solutions Center www.dopedog.com

Hey, folks. I've got a question, and one that can probably be answered by Dog1 (his young Ursus), JanisN(Tito), and Beth Coats (if she's here)----(Jag). I've read in numerous instances that Ursus-line pups are slower to develop physically than other line dogs. Is that your experience? I have one 14 month old pooch, an Ursus/Zorro Arlett grandson, who has a large frame, has pushed the limit of the standard, is handsome and masculine as __________, has the Ursus pigmentation and look, and who still looks like a pup. His frame, chest, croupe, and stature are there, but he's still so much like a pup (a real pup) it's funny. I'm not talkin' as compared to a typical 14 month old GSD. Much different than I've seen with, say, Rikkor progeny, Bax dogs, Wienerau pups, Kirshental dogs, and typical Arlett-line pups. Is this proposition for the dogs, or do you find it to be accurate? How long before they REALLY start to mature, as compared to other lines? Thanks folks!!!!!! Dog1, did Renaldo have an end of the season matching his initial home-run success, or did he take a break? I am not an authority, but I have eyes. At the shows it seems the young Ursus line females look mature far earlier than the males even from the same litter. I have seen the look you describe develop later at about age 2 to 3 into a nice dog and into a real eyecatcher at 4. Sad for the folks who bailed out too early and sold to more patient ones. Some gorgeous Ursus line males out there and all were gangly youths for a loooonnnggggg time... then seemed to mature suddenly in several months.... but apparently not related to any breeding activity for some reason. Check Ursus' show record... he bloomed late from the looks of the results.

First of all, I have no idea what the first 2 replies are about? I assume they are misplaced. Charlie, the reason is that I am a Malinois fan, not a GSD fan, however this dogs pedigree somewhat impressed me. So if it works out, I would like breeding rights to it. I am not asking anything about why I own it, only if someone can email me ( K9Solutionscenter@yahoo.com ) sample contracts of co-ownership of working dogs. Thanks in advance! Jeff

RedDoggie, I find the Rikkor lines develop slow. My Rikkor son grew intil he was almost 3. Size was there initially, substance kept coming, especially in head development. My little Ursus is doing well. He earned SchH1 this past weekend in Germany 92,83,91. As far as his development goes, he had his puppy coat until he was almost a year old. He grew different than any other pup I have had. He kept his look throughout his growth except for a month or so when he was a little leggy. Ronaldo did well following his performance in Karlsruhe. 5 shows, 5 times SG1, Two youth sieger titles. He's back in Germany. SG3 his first show. He was a bit out of condition after a month on the road. Next show he was SG2 behind Ken Elzmundungsraum. Back on topic, coownership agreements are usually custom tailored to the situation considering the two parties goals, ambitions, resources. A good dog with a couple good partners supporting it can go far.

I might be old fashioned but aren't people holding an unrelated conversation over people's head unbelievably rude? Why don't you answer the man's questions and have your boffin conversation elsewhere?

Hey RedDoggie & Wolf1 ... grow up

by wolf1 on 16 December 2004 - 07:12

Hey GSDrcool... This is not the first time messages have somehow either disappeared or re-appeared in the wrong place. No need to be rude about it. I am sure the questions are separate enough in content.... to be very obviously an e-glitsch. GSDrcool.....chill! Got any idea on a positive note about how to separate out the topics? It looks like the question was re-entered re the Ursus lines, and is continuing on but without the benefit of rude comment of an immature nature..... (maybe you have been around Ursus lines too long and it rubbed off?.. stick around, you will improve!)
