ALWAYS Wear leather gloves GSDfan ;) especially with your kind of assertive girl :) HUNDGUY, and I quote you first: "If the dog has a nerve or an unsound temperament animal aggression or aggression can be possible. (maybe fear aggression) I think when dealing with dogs that are unsound, other problems are a direct result of the lack of nerve/temperament." You are assuming a/the dog has a nerve problem, unsound temperament. Its a vague answer. IF & Possibles... & That was not the question asked... AND, it certainly will NOT pertain to ALL DOGS, as I've explained in my scenario. POINT BEING AGAIN? Indeed as Alphapup stated: 'KNOW YOUR DOG'

Saoa: Original Post: My question is, do any of you see, in dogs who won't out, a parallel tendency towards aggression towards people OR other dogs (or both?)??? And for that matter, for those who have owned, trained, or observed at least several dogs with that problem, is there anything else that those dogs have in common? I think my answer was that yes it is possible it is genetic and yes it is possible it is Training. I think it is as direct as the question. It would take days to type out ever possibility and I always hate long winded posters. It could be so many different situations, a question on a message board, non of us can give the real answer just opinions. The poster can email me directly with a more detailed question if he/she would like.

I think your answer was clear....makes sense to me. I was wondering if anyone had seen consistent pairings, eg. nervy dogs who won't out also are dog aggressive OR strong dogs who won't out have weak handlers OR oddities such as "dogs that won't out love carrots" (OK, joking here, but looking for some common thread) I hear so many people complain about dogs not outing, just curious if there is some other not-so-obvious "commonality" I know each dog is an individual, and each handler/dog team presents a unique picture...just tossing a question out for those who have observed this problem for many years. ???? :)
